The Midwest Prospects Showcase is entering it's 4th year of
showcasing players and we have grown tremendously over this short
period of
time due to the help of Pro Scouts who help run our camps.
Costs to attend
The cost for each event varies. Our summer showcase camps for
underclassmen cost $395 and our JC showwcase camps run $100.
How many days does the showcase last
Summer camps last 3 days with the JC camps run for 1 day.
How are players invited
We have several ways of identifying
players.
First and foremost we invite players that are nominated from Pro Scouts
and
our College Coaches advisory board. I hear from scouts everyday and
they
will tell me about prospects from around the country. I also visit
with HS
coaches who give me leads on prospects from there area of the country.
Number of pro scouts and college coaches that usually attend ?
We average between 50-70 colleges per camp and have
20-25
Pro teams at each camp. But many schools get our evaluations from our
website if they are not able to attend. Plus, with the staff being
comprised
of Pro Scouts it's very easy for a college coach to pick up the phone
and ask
a scout who stood out or who should we recruit.
The 5 best players that have attended your showcase
Colby Miller (Weatherford HS, OK) who was a 3rd round
pick
of the Minnesota Twins, Lance Nix (Midland HS, TX) who was a 4th round
pick
of the Rangers, Alan Moye (Pinetree HS, TX) who was a 4th round pick of
the
Red Sox, Michael Wilson (Booker T Washington HS, OK) who was a sandwich
pick
and Kole Strayhorn (Shawnee HS, OK) who was a 4th round pick of the
Dodgers.
There are many more especially from last summers camp, scouts have told
me we
could have at least 50 players taken in the amatuer draft this summer.
Is housing provided
Housing is not provided. We housed players in the past but
we no
longer do that, kids seem to act better when mom and dad's are around.
How many players that attended your showcase been taken in the amateur baseball draft?
We average about 11 player per
year of
getting drafted with many being labeled draft and follow. We'd love
for
every kid to be drafted but I am more proud to say that 93% of the kids
that
attend our camps get collegiate baseball scholarships. We advertise
exposure
and guidance after camp, obviously we're doing a great job with that
kind of a
percentage!
