May 5, 2000

Danny Kelly, 22, a lefthander who had been drafted by the Detriot Tigers in the 16 round in 1996. Kelly was attending Oklahoma State before an arm injury sideline him in 1999.

Kelly was looking to showcase his talents before going into affiliated ball. His agent Andy May contacted the Atlantic League teams. May was hoping to get Kelly in the strongest competition possible.

Kelly impressed the Atlantic League coaches by showing a fastball in the 90 mph range during an Atlantic League tryout camp. Kelly was selected third overal in the Atlantic League draft by the Nashua Pride.
