What is NUSI?

NUSI is - The Northwest Unit for Special Investigations - a multi disciplinary task force created to provide victim services and conduct criminal investigations in response to reports of sexual assaults, child sexual abuse and other child-related offenses.

NUSI consists of Victim Advocates, Therapists, Special Prosecutors & Special Investigators designated to work only on these types of crimes. NUSI provides "one stop" wrap-around victim services at 45 Kingman St., Saint Albans, Vermont. A NUSI satellite office is located at the Grand Isle State's Attorney's Office; Windridge Lane, in North Hero. An additional Therapist is located at the Enosburg Community Health Center.

Why NUSI & Does NUSI work?

Franklin / Grand Isle counties have the highest rates of sexual assaults and child abuse in Vermont. Since the inception of NUSI in 1995, the number and quality of investigations have increased, raising our conviction rate dramatically. Most importantly, victims are supported throughout the process with no additional trauma.
