Ecce Homo by Hieronymus Bosch, 1450-1516
The figure of Christ occupies the center of the piece with Pilate standing to his left and speaking the words "Ecce Homo" (Behold the Man) which are inscribed in golden Gothic lettering on the wall above Christ's head. Emblazoned across the wall (also in golden Gothic lettering) is the crowd's angry response "Crufige Eum" (Crucify Him).
Our plea: "Salve nos Christe redemptor" (Save us, Christ Redeemer)!1, 2
