The pups get collars so I can tell them apart.

As you can see, we had a lot more black boys than anything else. So as of today, we do still have a few black boys available to the right homes.
Hopefully, they will turn out to be as sweet and beautiful as their father Ranger.

When Torrie goes out for potty breaks, she has been coming back in with dirty toenails.... so I followed her, and found her digging a new den for her pups under our garden bench....

Day 6.... and Torrie's actual due date.
A look back at the pregnancy calendar

The pups had their dewclaws removed yesterday. 2 of the pups had rear dewclaws as well as front ones. Everyone seems to be gaining weight.

HEALTHY PUPPIES 1) Look and feel vibrant, vigorous and strong 2) Twitch while sleeping (activated sleep) 3) Nurse with great energy 4) Tongues are pink and warm 5) Skin returns quickly to normal when it is pinched 6) Tummies feel full, but not bloated SICK PUPPIES 1) Look and feel unthrifty, limp and flaccid 2) Stop twitching in their sleep 3) Rattle when breathing 4) Cease nursing, show weak attempts at nursing or cry while nursing 5) Tongue is not pink colored and is cool to the touch (sometimes looks ruffled) 6) Cry most of the time 7) Double up in cramps 8) Skin stays creased when pinched 9) Diarrhea and/or vomiting

I move the pups to a dog bed while I change the whelping box liner, and clean up.
There is at least one load of puppy blankets and towels every day.
Mark and I may not have clean cloths to wear, but I'm sure doing a lot of laundry!

Torrie has to check everyone out once they are returned to her. She doesn't like me taking them out of the box, so I have to distract her with food. :-)

Since Torrie had so many pups, I am supplementing them several times a day either by bottle feeding or tube feeding.

The puppies will be ready to go to their forever homes on June 29th! I won't be shipping any puppies this year. It will just be too hot! A great alternative is for the new owner to fly up, and take their puppy with them in the cabin. That way the puppy is in the cooler air controlled environment with his new owner. Different airlines have different rules. Some will charge a fee if you take the puppy with you as a carry on. Some do not. To carry a puppy, you will need a ventilated soft sided carrier, such as a Sherpa Bag. A little more info about traveling with your pet
