Countdown to puppy time!

12/26/2006 no puppies yet. The due date was calculated on the first breeding. So it may have been a later breeding that took.. Seger is still eating well. I can feel the babies kick when she is sacked out on the couch. She had tried to dig a hole under the front porch when she goes out for a potty break. So she is nesting, just not in the right spot!


12/27 Nothing yet... but Seger has taken to carrying around this hideous pink pig that she adopted from her Aunt Crystal's house. Its arms are so long that Seger keeps tripping over it. But She won't give it up!

12/31/2006 Quick morning picture of Seger and the lads. Both are well over a pound, and will not lack for any food! You may notice I didn't put collars on the boys. I use the color collars to help identify each pup. This helps you track if they are gaining weight and all growing well. But since one of the boys had a tiny white spot on his chest, I don't have problems keeping them apart. Most of the time a small white spot like this on the chest or on the feet will disappear by the time they are 7 or 8 weeks old. If the spot were larger, it would probably end up shrinking down to just a few white hairs. I have had curly pups born with quite large chest spots as pups, and you could not even find the white hairs when they grew up. I have also had a few born with white on their feet, often referred to as Milk Toes. Like they had stepped in a dish of milk.

I always thought this was cute...but when they are old enough to start eating out of s dish, they don't stop at milk toes...the get milk bodies!
