Ezekiel Stone has found Hell on Earth.
Fifteen years ago, (1983) Zeke was New York's most prominent detective. He was happily married. Everything was just perfect...until the day his wife got raped. Zeke watched his wife's attacker get away with this horrible deed without punishment.....so he killed him. Because he did such a thing in cold blood, when in two months he was shot in the face five times and died, he went to Hell. He made himself no better in the eyes of the Devil than the people he used to bring to justice while he was alive.
Zeke was sent to Hell to surve his dues, but there is a massive "jailbreak"; 113 of Hell's most despicable and vile souls are once again walking the streets amoung the living.
Because the Devil can't have these souls running around free, and the fact that he can't stand to be beaten, he promises Zeke redemption in exchange for him bringing these souls back.
For each soul that Zeke has to catch, there is a small Runic tatoo of theirs somewhere on either his chest or his arms. When he captures these souls, their individual tatoo disappeares.
All Zeke has to aid him in his quest is a daily $36.27 and his old NYPD detective badge. Everything that he had on him when he was killed. The way he is supposed to bring these souls back to Hell is by destroying their eyes. "The eyes are the windows to the soul....." Their eyes are the only real clue to showing that they are a bad soul, and by destroying them, they are drawn back to Hell where they belong.
If he succeeds in bringing all 113 souls back to Hell, it could mean his own redemption. If he fails...the price will be eternal fire and suffering. Eternal brimstone.
