The Matrix

Contrary to some reviews I heard, many negative and sarcastic, I found the movie "The Matrix" to be simply wonderful. Not only was it well-written and original, it had characters that the audience could relate to. You could feel their pain and their joy as they traveled through the matrix, trying to free themselves from the virtual world as they were being hunted by the dreaded Agents.

The plot

Keanu Reeves plays a man who is stuck in a lame job and boring life that is only interesting when he is logged onto his computer. He falls asleep, exhausting himself searching for something that he cannot describe and had never seen or heard.

As the character Neo, I honestly believe that Keanu did a good job. It makes me sick to hear all the criticism I hear about him, about how he can't really act but rather goes through the actions. I have always believed Keanu to be a good actor, and this movie should never-the-less remove any doubt.

Effects

The effects in this movie are really cool, especially teh scene that was actually shown in the trailor; that of Keanu's character bending over backwards, supposidly faster than a speeding bullet. There are many mind-blowing effects such as this scattered throughout the entire movie.

But, as I have just stated, they ARE scattered throughout the entire movie. There are several scenes that just depict the characters running from the Agents, which I found to be almost amusing because there is no way they're going to ever achieve anything if all they do is run.

But all in all, the effects in this movie were simply wonderful. No wonder it took over two years to complete this movie.

Future battles?

I've heard rumors of Keanu signing on to do a second and third installment to this story. Whether or not any of the other cast members will be back on I'm not sure of, but Keanu is definetly doing it.

The thought also comes to mind, however, as of how good following movies could possibly be. To continuously pump out a recycled version of the same story gets old pretty fast-just look at "Halloween".

Hopefully, if there truly will be a third movie made, or even for the second at that, the plot will become thicker and more complex and there won't be any plot repeats.
