Ezekiel Stone
He is the main character of the series, aka the cop from Hell who made his deal with the Devil.
Zeke has numerous tattoos all over his body, each represents one damned soul that he has to send back. Once he sends a particular soul back to Hell, the tattoo for that respective DOTW (Damned of the week or Damned Soul of the week) will vanish.
When he's not busy taking care of the DOTW, Zeke has been trying to live as normal of a life as he possibly can. This, of course, doesn't always have the best results. After being dead for 15 years, he experiences quite a culture shock nearly everytime he goes out and tries to converse with people. But behind the crusader, cop from hell Zeke, there is a real person. We have seen him struggle emotionally on more than one occasion as he thinks back on his life from his abusive father to killing his wife's assailant. More than anything else, he has struggled over whether or not to contact his wife Roseland after fifteen years of being dead... The Devil (John Glover): Not your "Father's" Devil, Brimstone's portrayal of The Devil departs from the traditional Demonic like Devil. In fact, The Devil almost seems to be more of a practical joker and is quite the cause of some great laughs. But not at the expense of forgetting the escaped souls. There are hints that The Devil may have fallen in love with Ash which allowed her to orchestrate the break. The Devil wants those souls back and actually seems to be semi afraid of Ash. Seriousness aside, Glover's portrayal of The Devil is truly excellent. One can really tell when an actor is having fun with a role. Roseland Stone: Zekes former wife that he was forced to leave behind when he met his untimely end 15 years ago. Zeke went to hell to protect her, and has had an emotional bond with her even after all he has been through. She still loves him and Zeke most certainly still has feelings for her. Though Zeke has saved her life on two occassions (once from Ash), they have never actually met since Zeke came back. However, Zeke has dropped hints that he is still with her. She seems to know he is.... Ash: The attractive female who was responsible for the prison break. Since the break she has been going around, trying to round up followers for her cause. Being, the Pagan Lizard Queen she wants to destroy any modern-day religions that have opposed Paganism in ancient times. She was romantically involved with Zeke when she was pretending to be a detective, up until she noticed her name tattooed on his chest. Zeke may still have feelings for her Father Horn: The blind Catholic priest that followed Zeke from New York to LA. He has helped Zeke on numerous occasions. Max: Max is the semi strange receptionist of the apartment that Zeke lives in. Zeke will ask her to gather some info for him from time to time.
