“Not yet…would you just wait a second?”
“You know how patient I am now-a-days…” Mackenzie didn’t have time to finish her sentence as Nick slid the blindfold off of Mackenzie’s eyes.
“You’d better learn pretty damn fast…”
Mackenzie’s eyes lit up as a smile crossed her face. “An empty room…I don’t get it.”
“Mackenzie…one year ago today the doctor gave you a clean bill of health. You’ve been cancer free for exactly 365 days.”
Mackenzie smiled. “And don’t you forget that. Cancer free…God it’s wonderful. Now about this room?”
“Jeez Mackenzie,” Nick said, facing her and running a hand through her finally- grown-back short hair. “When you touring, you learn to enjoy the quiet times…this happens to be one of them…so lets be quiet and celebrate.” Nick leaned over and kissed Mackenzie with soft and tender lips.
Mackenzie looked up at Nick and smiled. “I couldn’t agree more.”
