Secluded in mystery William Drago rose seemingly from nowhere and brought with him a forgotten land and lake. In this article you may find answers to questions, or you may simply find more questions! There is no great revelation, simply a mire of circumstances that led to this unusual being.
William Drago was born a human, like many other Tenarians. He was raised by the only man he ever acalled father, a man known only to us as Black Vampire God. Bvg raised William with great care, because he had loved Williams mother. BVG and Williams mother were only seen seperated several times during their illustrious relationship. It was during one of these times that Williams mother was raped and beaten and left for dead. The child that the rapist had left in Williams mothers womb, was of course William Drago. Williams mother survived 5 years after the rape, then died in one of the first attacks on Dragonlake. BVG raised William from that point on with all the love and respect befitting a vampire that had reached Golconda.
On Williams 23rd birthday, while on a hunting expedition with his dear friend Menion Leah, William was attacked by a wolf. Savagely the wolf tore at him until finally there was little left but a bloody portrait of savagry. Mauled and Dieing William Laid on the ground, it would seem to him that death was not such a far fetched idea, but it would not come then. BVG had been alerted by Menion and came with a speed that is hardly human to his son's rescue. It was when all other options had been explored that BVG used his vampiric kiss to save William.
William grew into his new vampiric abilities rather well but never truly accepted them. He set for himself a rigourous style of living that was one many vampires find hard to follow. He respected all life and refused to kill, taking only blood that he needed to survive, sometimes this came from willing humans, others it came from animals. Once or twice it came from the great dragons of dragonlake. Truly William had learned that he could live with his fathers choice, and did so quite well in the century or so of peace.
A century after that descision DragonLake and the lakeclan fell for the first of three times in Williams lifetime. The Dragons were forced from their home, by vampires, darkhunters and many other threats. Once all had been said and done most of the lakeclan left Tenaria never to return. BVG and William alone stayed and for several years remained hidden in the caverns beneath Tenaria. Leaving only to hunt and never being seen.
BVG grew cold and bitter towards all vampires for what they had done to the people he called his family and spoke of revenge often. At times that was unbearable for William, as his father seemed to carreen down a slope of insanity to the pit that would devour his entire being. William would sit in the corner never talking during these rants, only listening. It was at these times William planned his return to the "uplands".
William returned to the surface a quarter of a century later, he did not allow BVG to know where he was, leaving while his father slept and vowing to return DragonLake and the Lakeclan to the world of the living. His plan was then to return to his father and let his father see the great thing he had done and all would be well again.
Williams first stop on his return trip was to the lake he had grown up. Amidst the bare bones of long dead dragons there seemed to be no signs that life would ever flourish there again. It was here that William first met Cerleun Kaiser, and learned that at one point, Williams "uncle" Black Dragon God had befriended Cerleun. Cerleun was a powerful mage who warned William that an attempt to return Dragonlake to the world would prove ill-fated. He warned that lurking in the shadows behind every friendly face was a treachorous hunter of the lakeclan. William did not heed his warning.
William began to set in motion the first of two valiant returns of the lakeclan, finding time in the vampire tavern and searching for any members of the old lakeclan. It was during this search that he came accross his first wife, Rauche Dragonsherz. It was almost an instant love between Rauche and William and they were wedded after a short courtship. Not long after their marriage William stumbled onto the secret that would change his life forever. Rauche invited William into the lake for a swim and knowing no better action than to accept promptly did so. Upon entering the lake William began to feel as if he was falling into a great abyss. Before reaching the ground it would feel as if William had been caught in the grasp of a great dragon. The Dragon seemed to burn him, or rather to burn itself into him and true enough it did. The dragon burned itself into the very core of Williams being. William understood then what had happened. A great dragonic priest, seeking to save his race had placed a spell on the lake, dragons who died in the area did not ascend to be with the great Draco, but rather their soul was stuck in Dragonlake, until such time as it could attach itself in a symbiotic relationship with another. Despite all the laws of nature, William had become an abomination, part Dragon, part vampire, and all confused.
Bvg soon learned of his sons plans and returned to the surface. Upon doing so he was overcome by the passion of rage and frenzied. He walked the land attempting to destroy everything in sight, and almost succeeded. William with the help of Cerleun Kaiser did everything he could to stop this, eventually casting a spell that trapped Bvg's soul in the blade of a rune laiden sword. It remains there today.
The people Bvg had brutalized came for vengance and not finding him took it from the land of DragonLake. William and his new found lakeclan fought valiantly but they were to young and weak in formation to overcome the odds. This would be the first of two times the lakeclan would fall under Williams lead. It was their youth and ignorance of fighting that plunged Dragonlake for the second time into defeat.
Shortly after the fall of the second group to be called the lakeclan, Rauche layed 10 eggs. She had been sent into hiding by William, for her safety and the safety of their childer. Stories of here, henceforth are not mentioned. William recieved word that Rauche and her childer had been slaughtered. This sent William sinking into a depression that ultimately caused him to fall into Torpor. He awoke years later to find the world of Tenaria a very different place.
Plaqued by insane thoughts of his fathers voice inside his head, he went, once more, about trying to rebuild the lakeclan. The first of many of the new lakeclan was Wraith Modulus, so close were he and William that they referred to eachother as brothers. With Wraith's help William set his plan into motion crossing boundries few have ever done searching for new and old members of the lakeclan alike. It was during this search he met Blaydesyndicate, and his second wife Katorina. Katorina and Blayde, along with wraith and a few others helped William once again see his dream take shape. The lakeclan began to grow and Dragonlake was again noticed throughout Tenaria. William was to learn that this, like all other things, was fleeting.
Within days of his marriage to Katorina, William was approached by Vicxeerie, the God and leader of a group of people known only as the scapieans. Vicxeerie offered William protection for the lake and an agreement William thought would mean peace for Dragonlake and his people. It was then that Vicxeerie began to show that his true desire was to have DragonLake to himself. He left his blood mark on William holding him to a blood bond. William was powerless to stop this, after all he had agreed.
It was merely a few days when word came from one of BVG's oldest friends Talons_Blazdragon. Once she learned of the deception of Vicxeerie she told William the truth of this scapien "god" . She warned William that he had sent his new lakeclan into the destruction the others had found. William would not accept this and began to fight his way from Vicxeeries hold. It was to no avail. That is until Vicxeeries own wife restored William and Blaydesyndicate to their own devices removing the blood mark from them and ultimately giving the lakeclan a fighting chance.
Vicxeerie, angered by this act, which he veiwed as deception, came to William himself to say that a war was soon to take place at Dragonlake. and that war would be led, by the scapiens. Vicxeerie vowed to have dragonlake for his own and the destruction of the lakeclan would be his victory.
William hearing this news began to send his people out to roam, to find others to fight for the cause. Many agreed and yet few came. William was even warned by Talons that some of the alliances he was making would end the lakeclan again. Once again his pig-headedness did not allow him to listen as the lakeclan began to turn iin upon itself fighting eachother they offered barely any resistance to the cenobites when they came to take dragonlake and use it to their own devices.
The cenobite came to DragonLake and despite futile attempts by everyone there, even Drago's own daughter Eugenia, and Son, Keiron, the cenobites took dragonlake as their own. They dragged dragonlake into the Malkuth, the hell deminsion where they are they gods. Still the lake looked the same so William continued to fight and gather forces.
It was in this hell Dimension that Willam and the lakeclan, with the help of some others who bear mentioning, Messanger Appock, Sheol Scar Soulfyre, even Talons attempted to defend the lake and the lakeclan. The battle looked grim for the lakeclan but it was then that the cenobite unleashed his trap, pulling scapien and lakeclanner alike into the malkuth to dispense their own type of cruel pleasure. Many were trapped, and yet still many more escaped, but dragonlake and the lake were lost once more.
The cenobites have yet to release DragonLake and William can not return for fear of attack. Several attempts to do so have proven almost deadly for him. Drago can be found today sitting in the dark recessess of Middle Tenaria Tavern, mostly he sits pondering the return of the lakeclan. Sometimes he steps through the portal to Underten his fathers realm, but mostly he sits drinking and repeating the words"should've listened to Yanosh".
