Free Sklyarov - St. Louis, Missouri Site

General Information

In case you haven't heard, a Russian programmer has been arrested in the United States for demonstrating security flaws in a commercial product. He has found a way to unlock Adobe's e-books to provide legitimate purchasers with their "fair use" rights (such as making backups or reselling the book when finished reading it) as required by U.S. copyright law. However, unlocking the book also allows unauthorized copying (pirating) of the book. Note that Sklyarov hasn't actually pirated anything, he has simply created a tool which could allow a malicious person to do so. The story is much better summarized by some people in Chicago. (You can check out their whole site if you like.) For the whole story with more details, visit the international site.
