Cervoni - Good for Wallingford
Vincent Cervoni for Town Council
2009
What we want for Wallingford
- Maintain fiscal conservativism: Let's keep taxes low and maintain good services in exchange for the taxpayer's dollar.
- Good schools: Good schools will help our young people grow into productive citizens and will reduce crime rates. Good schools also increase home values and make the Town more desirable to prospective home buyers.
- Appropriate use of technology: We should bring current our technological capabilities for police investigations and greater efficiency in town offices. Modern technology can be monitored for security, and to prevent waste and distraction.
- Reduce vacant store-fronts throughout town: Businesses in town pay a variety of taxes which, in turn, reduce the burden on the residential tax payer. Minor tax incentives can be offered to small, start-up businesses and to major businesses, creating attraction to Wallingford. Carefully created tax incentives will result in long term gains in tax income for the town, resulting in lower taxes for residential tax payers.
- Reduce blight throughout town: Unsightly and badly maintained properties make our town less desirable and reduce our property values. With respect to commercial property owners, we can enhance and strengthen zoning regulations to penalize those property owners who don't maintain their properties. The same can apply to home owners with a little more consideration for the individual abilities of those home owners.
