Description

Dwarves are the ultimate working race. They love a hard days work and will often brag about their strength and perseverance, as they should. Their small stature can be deceiving, because they are very thick and often very strong. Some people joke about how short they are, or how they walk, or the big nose prominent on their face. A Dwarf will usually let it roll off their massive shoulders and throw move clever insults back their way, while downing a tankard of ale. Gruff, often times even mean, they take each day as it comes. You'll also usually find them covered in ash, dirt, or other elements that they were working in during the day.

Requirements For Play

Appearance

  • Max height of 4'5"

  • Their build is bulky, or fat. Their muscle (or beer gut) is prominent and visible.

  • Males have lots of body hair, including large unkempt beards or mustaches which they feel naked without. Females are muscular (never dainty), and tend to have their hair in braids or dreads to keep it out of the way. Some females also adorn body or facial hair as a sign of strength and dominance.

  • Dwarves are disproportionate, and often have large noses, ears, or chins. Aside from their famous big mouths.

Language(s)

Common, Dwarven

Age Ratio

(HY indicates physical appearance, AY is how long they have lived.)

1 HY : 1/2 AY
Lifespan: About 40 or 50 AY, with grey hair around 25 AY, which is actually 50 HY for them. They age faster than humans, and die sooner, due to generations of hard-working, care-free lifestyles.

Race Perks

Race Drawbacks

  • Small/squat stature. May have trouble opening doors, jumping over obstacles, riding, etc. at GM Discretion.

  • Max of 3 Charisma. Dwarves are often unfriendly, unapproachable, rowdy or have poor hygiene leading others to avoid them.

  • Dwarves detest magic. They'll only go as far as working with/using magic gems, or infusing metals with enchantments (if they have to... otherwise they'll pass it to another when the option is available.) MP will max at 75.

  • Thick fingers make for holding delicate items difficult. Halved attack roll if using darts or bow & arrows.
