This is a fanfic rec list that I've compiled over the years. This list is based entirely on my personal tastes, so I realise some of these stories probably don't appeal to everyone. I have kept general quality in mind when choosing these stories, so I'm pretty sure there are no actual badfics listed here. Another thing to keep in mind is that not all of these stories are finished and some are even abandoned.
When I started this, I was in the habit of summarising the stories in my own words, but these days I just copy the summary the author has provided, even if it includes spoilers. If you see your story here with a summary by me and would rather have me use the one you originally provided, drop me a line at my LJ.
Warning: Personally, I'm not as much into warnings as most people, but I know it's a serious issue. Most of the time, I have not included any warnings for these stories, unless the original summary had them or the story deals with something heavy, like graphic rape. Character deaths are never warned for.List last updated: 09/03/09 -- 10 stories added

FANDOMS
AladdinAladdin and the Amulet of Time: Old-school Aladdin fun is rare, so enjoy. Aladdin and friends travel to mysterious lands, look for strange artefacts, meet new people, and fight old foes.
Dance of Eternity: In the city of Abd al Matin, he was transformed into a weapon. He no longer had control. That was the scariest part. Mozenrath-centric.
A Drinking Contest: Aladdin and Rasoul have a drinking contest to determine who is the man. Too bad all kinds of other stuff happens as well.
A Fiend in Need: Mozenrath loses his powers again and this time getting them back is not such an easy task. Really funny and true to the cartoon's spirit.
If Witches Were Horses: A four-chapter story that really remains true to the cartoon's spirit. Aladdin is injured in a fight against Mechanikles and Sadira tries to heal him with her magic. However, things get really freaky when several spells backfire and other stuff goes wrong. Eventually they have to trick an arch-enemy into helping them.
Love Will Find a Way: Sequel to Aladdin and the Amulet of Time. Many times longer, better and has an amazing cast of OCs.
Love's A Bug: Jasmine's cousin finds love in a surprising person. The story is a little Sueish, but hey, it's got Mechanikles AND romance in it, so I'm not complaining.
Mechanikles introduces himself: Not a fanfic, but an entry from a community which is sort of like role playing. The author has nailed Mechy's character perfectly and the entry is so much fun that I want to share it here. Also, see this.
Xerxes Discovers Fanfiction.Net: Xerxes starts writing Aladdin/Mozenrath slash.
Back to topWhom I Love: What if Sinuous had survived? Cartoon-verse.
Back to topThe Cold Red Warmth: Wow, a fic about Antz! A story about how human actions can have a dramatic effect on the life of ants. Quite many OCs (all of them well developed and likeable, though) but the canon cast definitely gets a chance to shine as well. Chapter 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Back to topLove's Illusions: Years before the movie, Helga was a strong tomboy and Rourke an opportunist who saw his chance.
Back to topBATMAN: TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE: The Joker was captured after stealing a valuable gem. Where did he hide it? One of the most hilarious stories I've ever read! (Batman: TAS)
The Color of Straw: Jonathan Crane gets a surprise in shower. (Comics)
Dark My Light: A story about an OC who starts working in Arkham Asylum. We also get an inside look into Crane's head and for once he's not beautified. The OC is a fantastically fleshened character, far from a Sue. I recommend this to everyone who likes movie!Crane. (Batman Begins)
Deadly Bliss: All across Gotham City, junkies are turning up dead. The cause? A deadly new poison, laced into the city's narcotics. When the city is full of suspects, can Batman find the culprit before every addict in town is dead? (Comics)
Eternally Yours: Slight AU. Mr. Freeze has a cruel plan in progress and it's up to Batman, Robin and their new ally Batgirl to stop him. The story focuses on Robin and Batgirl with and without their masks, but it's a great read even if you're only interested in Freeze. (Batman: TAS)
A Handful of Dust: Lock-up escapes Arkham and gets into bad business. Scarecrow sees this as his chance of getting revenge on the ex-guard and starts plotting his own plan. A great story with a great ending that couldn't fit canon any better. (Batman: TAS)
The Heron and the Crane: Another fic based on the newest movie. Takes place after the film and follows Crane as he finds out that Ra's al Ghul always gets what he wants. Batman also gets his share of action, but the focus is on the insane criminal. (Batman Begins)
Hotel Deluxe: A dose of humour for villain lovers. The criminals run from Arkham and all book in the same hotel. Ivy and Harley are looking forward to a good night's sleep but things get complicated when Crane and Tetch throw a party next door. (Batman: TAS)
I am the Master of Fear: Crossover with The Nightmare Before Christmas. Scarecrow thinks he's the hottest stuff when it comes to fear, but a tricky trio might prove him wrong. (Batman: TAS)
In the Twilight Kingdom: A great AU in which the villains are good and the good are villains. Commissioner Jack Napier and his crew are doing their best at saving Gotham from the cruel Bat Demon. (Comics)
Noctis Timeo: People are disappearing around Gotham and nobody, not even Batman, knows what's going on. Scarecrow gets caught in the middle of this terrifying mystery. What will he do? (Batman: TAS)
One of Those Nights: Silence is a luxury you rarely can enjoy in Arkham, but some nights you can just close your eyes and enjoy the silence. Scarecrow/Mad Hatter interaction, rated T for implied rape. Set before/during/after the "Lock-Up" episode. (Batman: TAS)
Reformed Regrets: Penguin claims he's gone straight! To prove his reformed life, he accepts a job as a teacher at Gotham's high school. But has he really changed his ways or is there something else on his mind? (Comics)
Sing Sweet Nightingale: The Penguin doesn't go to the opera anymore. (Batman: TAS)
'Tis the Season: It's Christmas Eve and Batman gives The Scarecrow a visit. (Comics)
Tripping Arkham Asylum: The funniest Batman story there ever was. Some symphatetic nun decides that it's cruel to keep the criminals in Arkham 24/7 so the management is forced to arrange a trip to an aquarium. Batman and Robin are asked to keep an eye on The Joker, Riddler, Two Face and Scarecrow during the trip, but the four are far from easy to control. (Comics)
The Visit: The Joker gets a surprise visitor to his holding cell. (Comics)
The Waiting Period: One night Alice Pleasance watchs the bat signal in the sky. Waiting to find out if it has anything to do with Jervis she thinks about everything that has happened to her. This however is only the beginning..-No longer a oneshot-Alice/Hatter..eventually.
Winter's On the Wing: Slight AU of the Sub Zero movie. What if Freeze had never learnt that his wife was cured? How will Nora react to the news of her husband when she wakes up? Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. (Batman: TAS)
With You, of All People: Batman and Harley get stuck in an elevator. (Batman: TAS)
Years After: The year is 2012, and things in Gotham are a little different. Batman is no longer needed, and his Rogues' Gallery mostly all come to sanity. But when a new force threatens to bring back the criminals, will the Dark Knight reemerge? (Batman: TAS)
Back to topBeauty and the Beast, The (Disney)
Delicate Condition: Lumiere and Babette's happiness is destroyed. This author is THE person to turn to when you want to read this pairing.
A Man of Stature: A sequel to another story by the same author, but this can be read as an independent piece. Follows Gaston as he tries to break the curse placed on him.
Picture This: In an alternate universe where the Beast doesn't exist, Belle and Gaston may have a chance of happiness. A fantastically colourful story full of life. Note: the story was accidentaly deleted and is being reposted. Be patient if all chapters aren't up yet. Also, check out the sequel.
These Provincial Lives: The good guys got their happy ending, but how about a certain sidekick?
Back to topJudgement: It's been a year since Scrooge's redemption. His old friend Marley still walks the Earth in eternal torment, but perhaps he too can be given a second chance?

The Silver Egg: Jim Kido is transported to the Digital World, where he meets an odd Digimon with a mysterious past. Can he uncover his new friend's secret in time to help the Digidestined?
Back to topFeline Companionship: Sort of but not really part of the Four Bikers story set. I got bored of waiting for a fill at the hetalia_kink meme so I decided to fill it. The request? Greece bonds with a certain anthromorphic personification over a mutual love of cats. Discworld/Hetalia crossover.
Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds
Fall of the Cardinal: Richelieu. Milady. Temptation.
The Other Side: After failing the Muskehound entrance test, Dogtanian drowns his sorrows and wakes up with a hangover and a commission in the Cardinal's Guards. Can he get back where he belongs without losing everything?

The Promise: Dogtanian returns home to find some unfinished business.
Back to top Let's Get D-D-D-Dangerous!: Drake isn't jealous of Scrooge McDuck. Really. The Art of Being Entreri: This story is now heavily AU since Salvatore has continued Entreri's story in his books. Anyway, Entreri gets sick of the drow and uses magic to travel to a far away corner of the world. Tired of fighting, he tries to start a new life, but it looks like trouble will never leave our beloved assassin alone.
Back to topAll To Chance: Ben and Mo have a talk six months after the events of the game.
Back to topAkabane no Akanbou: Akabane wakes up to find out that 12 days of his life are missing. He has no idea where he has been during the time, but the more he learns about the truth, the less he wants to know. It's mpreg. And it's damn good! I never thought I'd like mpreg, but this story has me on my knees begging for more. Do yourself a favour and read.
My Boyfriend: Hevn's family is coming over and in order to keep her name in the will, she needs a fiance. Someone smooth, dark and gentlemanly... Who could it be? This story turns a cliché concept into a wonderfully funny fic that never ceases to be in character.
Back to topDeus Ex Machina: [Post TLA] The New Age may not be as wonderful as it seemed... Even after the lighting, Isaac's part in saving Weyard is far from over. The adepts must again fight together for war, for peace, and for the perfect world they so desired. New!
The End: They did it. They've won. They've lost everything. New!
The Final Trial: Alex survived and with a few OCs as his new friends sets sail to Vale. But things are never that simple... Hasn't been updated in a while, but still worth a read.
Golden Sun: The New Beginning: The adventure may be over, but our heroes are not going to be able to rest. Something dark and mysterious is going on and an old enemy plays a part in it as well.
Golden Sun: Quest for Retrieval: Alex is back but no longer able to use Psyenergy. He teams up with a few excellent OCs in his attempt to get his powers back. Unfortunately for him, Saturos and Menardi are alive as well, and Isaac and friends are also after him.
Rain: [Post TLA, Alex centric. One shot.] Alex's thoughts after the events of TLA. The rain might wash you away if you let it. It might peel away the layers of yourself, then wash you away like you're nothing...New!
Back to topA Bat Out of Hell: Aziraphale has a little bat problem.
Re-Arrangement: Aziraphale. Crowley. Sweaty action.
The Terror that Flies-by-Night: Crowley has a nightmare.
Untitled GO/HP crossover: Crowley and Aziraphale run into Nagini, Voldemort's snake, and things get interesting. Crossover with Harry Potter.
Back to topFleshless Dream: Love her or hate her, Olivia Ofrenda is one of the most unique and eyecatching characters in Grim Fandango. But we've never known much about her--until now.
Grim Fandango sequel: Like the title says, a sequel to Grim Fandango. Something goes wrong with the Number Nine and an old enemy returns. I have no idea why I didn't add this sooner.
Jump: A short one-sided Domino/Meche piece.
Lockjaw: Someone finds out Nick and Olivia's secret.
Maybe He Never Did: Perhaps there was more to Lola and the entire picture mess?
The Only Things That Matter Are These: A series of vignettes about Lola.
With the Warden: Meche makes breakfast at the edge of the world. A little AU.
The World to Come: AU. If the circumstances had been different, Nick might have been an unwilling hero.
Back to topThe Apotheosis of Vernon Dursley: Vernon Dursley is a wizard. And not just any wizard, but the most powerful one in the entire history. Voldemort sends him to an undercover mission in Hogwarts and soon enough our hero has the entire place at his feet. This story has to be read to be believed. It has everything from a wand named after a Swedish king to Celebrian references.
The Benefits of Friendship: Gregory Goyle remembers Vincent, both the good and the bad. Draco seeks forgiveness.
Brown: Percy Weasley's life is in ruins. He's now living far away from civilization, but when strange things start happening around him, he learns that brown is the colour of redemption.
Caught: Snape is caught with Lily's picture. Some DH spoilers.
The Enemy of Souls: After an unexpected attack on Hogsmeade, Ginny Weasley is left with only grief as a remnant of war. But what she never anticipated was to find her will to live again in the form of a bawling, greyeyed baby the baby of Draco Malfoy. REVISED VERSION. New!
Fidelius: Due to changed circumstances, the Fidelius Charm on the Potters is not broken, Harry is raised by house elves, and Peter has things to do. Great AU.
A House Divided: Order of the Phoenix from Moody's point of view. Brilliant characterization of him, Tonks, Sirius etc, and there's an interesting plot on top of it all.
House Potter: Harry Potter & House MD crossover. Set in a modern day Hogwarts, when Dr. Wilson travels to England to seek an impossible cure, House tags along uninvited and finds himself wrapped up in magical illnesses, supernatural hurts and really annoying teenagers.
I'd Kill You if You Weren't Already Dead: Ron dies in a battle against Voldemort and becomes a ghost. Not only that, but he finds out that Percy is a ghost too. After some incidents the brothers find themselves bound to each other for a good amount of time. The only thing it means is that they now have the chance to work on their issues.
in the closet: Harry is acting in an odd way, and both Ron and Ginny want to find out why. Incredibly creepy and brilliant! Read!
Kiss or Kill: A strange accident splits young Tom Riddle in two and sends the other half to the year 1996. Once there he must attend Hogwarts with only a handful of people knowing his true identity. Slash, Harry/Tom.
The Moment It Began: Deathly Hallows spoilers ensue. This story is being written as a response to JKR's comment in an interview where she said if Snape could choose to live his life over, he would choose Lily over the Death Eaters. So, that said, this is obviously AU.
A Muggle in Magical Britain: A Muggle girl finds her way into the Wizarding World and discovers many surprising things.
No Such Thing as Normal: Ten things about Dudley Dursley that no one ever found out.
Promises Unbroken: AU. What if Sirius had been the secret keeper after all? What will the wizarding world be like when James and Lily never died, Peter's betrayal was never found out and Voldemort was never defeated?
Recall Alice When She Was Just Small: A story about Dudley growing up. Don't be put off by that, this is one of the most in-character, brilliant and well-written fics in the HP section, and it really brings depth to the Dursleys and Dudley's friend, Piers. A must-read!
The Right Hand Path: What if Merope had survived to raise her son, Tom Riddle?
Snape's Favourite Student: Snape and Filch do some roleplaying. Slash.
Unfinished Business: Hermione dies in an accident during her seventh year and is doomed to haunt Snape's Potion Lab for all eternity.

Untitled GO/HP crossover: Crowley and Aziraphale run into Nagini, and things get interesting. Crossover with Good Omens.
The Unwinding of Percy Weasley: Percy is given an untidy and absent minded assistant named Audrey Larrabee to help promote himself in the Ministry. Will he be able to handle her seemingly complete apathy for the Ministry? Or will she be able to help him in ways he never dreamed of?
You're Going to Die, Brother: Percy travels back in time by accident and saves Fred, but messing with fate can be very dangerous business.
Happiest Place on Earth: "It is actually a certain attraction that my boss would like to attend.” Ivan settled onto the edge of the desk and paused before pulling his metal pipe from his jacket and placing it on the wood with a clank.
An Ikea Story: The 'Canada gets sat on' story from another perspective.

A Report on the Subject of Human Copulation: America's alien friend tries to understand why exactly people get up to all the antics they do.
Say My Name: Romano gets tired of the others forgetting that he's Italy as well.
St. Vitus' Dance: Perhaps Romano's clumsiness wasn't just clumsiness, after all.
The White Russian Bride: Years after the fall of the USSR, Belarus goes back to her beloved brother. The problem is, she is acting a little stranger than usual.
Back to topHouse Potter: Harry Potter & House MD crossover. Set in a modern day Hogwarts, when Dr. Wilson travels to England to seek an impossible cure, House tags along uninvited and finds himself wrapped up in magical illnesses, supernatural hurts and really annoying teenagers.
Play the Game: House's home is infested with roaches, so he has to live with Cameron for a while.
Unnamed Crossover: House gets a patient who's even more obscure than usual. Crossover with Harry Potter.
Back to topBroken Things: Based on the book. Conchita is a Spanish-born prostitute who gets a customer who wants to call her Esmeralda...
Choices: Esmeralda decides to sacrifice herself which changes the outcome for her, Phoebus, Quasimodo and Frollo. I would have liked a bit more character development, but even this way I like it. Disney version.
Christmas Eve in Paris: Based on the Disney version. It's Christmas in Paris.
The Hawaiian and the Hunchback: Lilo ends up in medieval Paris and makes a new friend. Crossover between The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Lilo and Stitch.
Justice and Temptation: What if Esmeralda had chosen Frollo over death? A very well written and fittingly creepy story that keeps everyone in character. I'm unsure whether this is based on the Disney movie or the book, but it didn't affect the reading experience.
Scortum Formosus: Esmeralda had asked for it. Disney version.
Tale of the Widow and Orphan: A gypsy woman tells a sad story. Disney version, I suppose.
Back to topAlmost: Avery is the goddess of Enforcer angst. Chow is a little drunk... Someone else might turn this concept into a true badfic, but not her! Read this and all the sequels to see some really good writing. Slash.
Ben Shui Limits: You can’t really put a tap on the power of the new Chosen One of the Ben-Shui order, no matter how much you might want to protect her. A one shot about growing up.
Criminals Aren't Heartless: The Dark Hand is getting back on their feet and Valmont hires a new Enforcer. Promises to be a very good story, give it a shot.
Demon of the Lily: The story that inspired me to write about the demons too. Hsi Wu is released and he goes after Jade. However, he's not the only one with an interest for the girl...
The Demon Within: A really old story that gets an update about once a year or so. Shendu possesses Jackie and things get really, really ugly.
An Enforcer Christmas: A short piece on what the Enforcers were doing during the Christmas episode in Season 03. Since Enforcer fic is an endangered species nowadays, this story is much appreciated. It also introduces Shannon the OC who won me over instantly.
First Love?: There are several stories on what the demons' life was like before they were banished away, but this one is the funniest. Dhai Jiang could very well be the most amusing OC I've ever encountered in this fandom.
In the Shadow of Love: The only Jade/Paco fic I ever managed to find. Daolon Wong does something horrible and puts Jade's life in line. It looks like there is no chance for the girl -- or the world for that matter -- but Paco isn't about to give up that easily.
Kurayami: This is one long story, but definitely worth reading. The Chans get an exchange student from Egypt and he brings a lot of adventure and trouble along. Focuses on Jade and Sef, but the rest of the cast (especially the Enforcers) also get to enjoy the spotlight. One of the few JCA stories that stay true to the series' spirit without adding needless romance or angst.
Monkey Business: The Monkey King comes back and gets himself a Queen AND a lover!
Monkey Chi, Monkey Du: Monkey Fist tries to get his hands on the Monkey King puppet, which promises trouble for everyone. Crossover with Kim Possible.
Sky Shine: A great time travel fic. In order to stop the world destruction Jackie, Jade, Uncle and Tohru travel back in time to Valmont's teenage years to find a key to the mystery of saving the world.
The Song of the Sirens: Bai Tsa takes Valmont and Julia to Greece. Sequel to What I Like About You.
Valmont's Karma: Valmont's niece comes to live with him and things get messy.
What I Like About You: The only epic demon story I'm interested in at the moment. The demons are free, Valmont's daughter has got herself and the world in trouble and it looks like Jackie and the rest have to save the day again. Fantastic story, especially the later chapters.
A Whole New Level of Insanity: "So, I guess I'm talking to a former enemy who is now a statue by some strange twist of fate. How were the past few years encased in stone, Valmont?" Lucky for Valmont, Jade Chan can never quite escape magic or mysteries.
Back to topBertie Puts His Foot Down: Bertie is concerned about Jeeves. A bit of angst, but not much. I suppose parts of it could be considered fluffy. Don't miss the sequels Bertie Learns to Live for the Moment and Bertie Listens to Jeeves.
The best laid plans of aunts and men: Jeeves becomes the victim of an evil plot and his life in Bertie's service comes to an abrupt end.
Jeeves and the Act of Faith: A Jeeves & Wooster story written in true Wodehousian fashion.
Jeeves and the Blessed Indiscrition: Having dragged the corpus out of bed and tottered downstairs in something just short of a panic, I consider I was justified in being cross when I found Jeeves quite composedly sweeping the hearth in the sitting room, with no signs of the heart-attack or the impending-stroke to mar his appearance. (Yuletide 2004)
Jeeves and the Ordering Mishap: Bertie gets surprising visitors.
Jeeves and the Pink Lady: There is enough fluff and sugar in this story to rot your dentures. On the upshot, cocktails will be served. About 3,600 words.
Jeeves and the Suitable Fiancé: Aunt Agatha is trying to get Bertie hitched again. This time, however, the girl is approved by all and sundry, even Jeeves! So what on earth is the problem?
Jeeves and the Three O'Clock Wager: An interesting Notion interrupts Bertie at his writing desk. Fluff ensues.
Lack of Lyrical Language in Licentious Literature: Bertie does some research with a mysterious goal. Note that this link takes you to the beginning of the fourth part because not all parts are linked together. You can find all parts with the help of the links in this chapter.
The Long Road: A very bad thing happens. And then we must go on.
Love is Blind: An illness sends the lives of Bertie and Jeeves into a tailspin. 43,000 words.
All Things Probable: Kim and Team Possible are confronted by a team of teen mercenaries who are thier opposites. Kim Possible finds herself nearly overmatched by Grimm Probable, Rhonda Fatigable, her weasel Rueful, and their computer hacker Jade. This is the first in a series and the action just keeps getting better, so read the sequels as well. These fics are illustrated, too!
As You Wish: Time can change the way you view your previous enemies.
Awkward:Monkey Fist had never been thrilled with Team Possible’s habit of showing up in the most inopportune moments, but this time he had to admit that their timing was even worse than usual.

Death, and After That: After a terrible accident, Shego is left a hollow shell, capable of nothing but destruction. Can Kim help her before its too late? Warning, KiGo flavored in later chapters. Certain elements borrowed from Gungrave: Overdose.
Deontology and Utilitarianism: Villain and Hero Ethics 101. Drakken and Shego have finally managed to take over the world.
Drakken's Replacement: A new player interrupts the villains' annual convention and Kim and Ron find themselves in the middle of a dangerous game.

Season Four: Through the Cracks: An alternate season four. In many ways better than the real last season.

He sets out to return to Minas Tirith with his new friend, but the journey is hard and his resurrection has put interesting side effects on him. Fabulous characterization of Boromir, Faramir and Denethor. If I wouldn't get killed by Tolkien purists, I'd say that I prefer this AU to canon.
Don't Panic!: A female OC bamfs to Middle Earth. But wait! It's good, it's realistic, it's historically correct! It's the ultimate anti-Mary Sue! If you thought it impossible to write a good story about a modern day woman in ME, think again.

Back to topPlease note that most of these fics include spoilers for one or more of the games. The summaries alone can spoil a lot, so if you haven't played all of the games, be careful about clicking on the recs in this fandom or even reading the descriptions. The summaries often contain spoilers, and I haven't edited them much because then they would be too vague and not tell enough about the story. So be warned that reading the summaries might spoil too much. At least in my opinion, knowing the murderers and plot twists in advance would ruin the gaming experience.

The Forfeit Daughter: A man comes to Holmes to ask for help against a past crime he committed. Throw in an abandoned family, shady characters and a few past mysteries and you can be sure that something is wrong in the Thurlow household. Just realised that there is another sequel too.
Back to topHis Ardor: Practically a Sherlock Holmes story, but since it's based on the anime (and various other branches of Sherlock Holmes) I put it under its own category.
