ABOUT THE AUTHOR

NATIONAL INDIE EXCELLENCE AWARD winner for Best Fiction novel (More Than Angels:Once Upon a Lifetime).

Ruby (Moon) Houldson has been interested in science fiction/horror movies and books ever since she was five years old. She has always been fascinated with the myth of vampires and has shown her interest and love for the subject in nine novels. She has also written a dragon novel (Dragon's Fire, Insanity's Reign) and a werewolf novel (The Man Within). She enjoys the time she can escape into the science fiction/fantasy world and let her imagination run free. When not at her laptop, her time is spent on a full time position as a College Professor.

Ruby is working on her doctorate degree in Psychology. She is a wife and mother of three. She gives lectures at area colleges, secondary schools and makes appearances at other public groups as requested. Her discussion centers on writing as a hobby or as a profession. She submits articles for writers websites located online and is listed on the Writers Net group. Ruby also writes for a local newspaper. She is a member of the Indiana Literacy Coalition and a volunteer for the Speaker's Bureau in her county of residence. Ruby belongs to the Trek Writers Guild, and the Space Nurses Society. Ruby recently signed on to write for Roddenberry.com (Site promoting Roddenberry's work--Star Trek). She is also a memeber of "Friends of the Library". Her hobbies include reading, writing, photography (several of her framed pieces have sold across the U.S.), and collecting Star Trek memorabilia. She also likes to chat with her friends on the "Knight Vision" online group and other various groups for writers and readers.

Ruby's latest success in writing involves her books, 'More Than Angels: Once Upon A Broken Heart' and 'More Than Angels: Once Upon A Lifetime'. Both books have been reader nominated for OPRAH'S BOOK CLUB. These books have received several rave reviews. 'More Than Angels:Once Upon a Lifetime' is the National Indie Excellence Award winner for best fiction novel.

Ruby has written over thirty novels to date. Guardian of an Immortal Soul is the first in a vampire series now being called the 'Guardian' series. The second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh in the series is now available. The eighth should be available the summer of 2008 with book nine following after. With so many e-mails from readers praising the 'Guardian' series, Ruby is now writing a tenth book.

The "Guardian" series has served as inspiration for the creation of a music soundtrack titled “Night Sins” by Virgil Franklin. The soundtrack will be featured on the front cover of books 8 through 10 of the upcoming “Guardian Series” releases.

Ruby has also written Star Trek material. Her Star Trek Reference books are now available to the public.

Ruby has worked with Planet Earth Distribution Productions, LLC in conjunction with Walter Koenig's (Chekov on Star Trek) film titled "Illegal Alien". She was very excited to be a part of that project and she will continue to complete writing assignments for them as directed, along with Planet Xpo. Ruby also writes for Roddenberry.

Ruby lives in Indiana with her family, a black and white cat named 'Scotty' (born on the day and the hour of Doohan's passing - it has a white mustache, too), a black cat named 'Luna', a calico cat named 'Inuyasha', a black and white cat named 'Star Trek', and an AKC Weimaraner named 'Jadyn Thia Star Varatoo'. She loves to hear from her readers and loves participating in book signings. Comments are always welcome, and Ruby assures those who contact her that they will receive a reply.
