Updated Rules and Warnings (March 2004)

-humans and human glamours (appearing human) are not allowed as playable characters. This is a world outside the realm of homo sapiens.

-this is an adult RPG. There will be gore, there will be blood, there will be cursing (well, at least I’ll probably be cursing anyway...), and there most likely will be some sexual content. Consider yourselves warned, kiddies.

-the moderator reserves the right to screen any potential newcomers to make sure the individual can go about his/her business in the RPG world with a mature attitude. In other words, you must be able to type a coherent story and converse (relatively) intelligently. For example, I wouldn’t too eagerly accept a potential newcomer if they RPed like so:

“LiAm teh l33t mAge kiCKeD CAolAn’s a$$ in 1 blOw and sez ‘haha u n00b, u sux.’”

An example of a chocolate chip cookie worthy post:

“Mage Liam successfully defeated Caolàn in one quick blow. He towered over his opponent, the other man’s limbs sprawled in random directions and a dizzy glimmer roiling in his eyes. The mage smirked and purred, ‘Weak child. Go back to your mother and return when you’ve grown some.’”

-only RP your own character(s) and/or any “extras of the public domain” (for example, a player creates a wild griffin to fight against a party or adventurers. If the creator of the griffin has given the go-ahead, anyone may take a stab at controling how the griffin fights againstthe other characters). Don’t touch anyone else’s characters unless you have permission (this includes putting words in their mouths and stating thoughts for them). For example, let’s say Liam (Player A) is fighting against Caolàn (Player B). Player A writes:

“Mage Liam mumbled a spell below his breath, and a low rumble sounded beneath Caolàn. The other man looked at the shuddering ground below his boots and glared defiantly at Liam. Suddenly, the ground split wide, and Caolàn fell into the fissure, screaming loudly.”

Although not as obvious as blatantly making someone’s character do something his/her player would object, this is still illegal character control. A better way to enact the battle might go as follows:

“Mage Liam mumbled a spell below his breath, and a low rumble sounded beneath Caolàn. The mage smiled brazenly as the sound rose to a crescendo before screaming forth from a wide fissure that suddenly opened below the other man.”

Player A would then wait and let Player B figure out how to deal with Caolàn.

-Out of character messages (OOC), for the most part, belong on the MESSAGE BOARD. If you simply must say something OOC in the posts, keep it short.

-only the moderator is allowed to RP gods or other “premade” characters, such as the Dralost royal family or figures mentioned in the historical fluff. I don’t neccesarily enjoy RPing the gods, simply because I don’t enjoy playing powerwhores all the time, but I will do so if you require one for your plot (provided it doesn’t go as far as the whole Oidche/Lorcan/Sandhya fiasco...).

-This RPG, Terra Nova, its gods, cities, villages, and premade NPCs are the creations of Alex W. (that would be moi, the mighty Mistress Moderator). Please do not take credit for its creation.

-if you have a bone to pick with these rules/warnings, the structure of the RPG, or you simply have a beef against the moderator herself, please email me and state your problem in a non-flaming manner. I don’t take lightly to flames, childish ranting, or petitions filed behind my back. Such actions will most likely earn you a banning or, at the very least, a mugfull of my venom spat in your direction.

-Do remember to have fun! The rules and warnings are here to ensure everyone knows what they’re doing (sorta) and can interact without fear of the moderator pointing at you and saying, “GAH! Evil flying monkey of the apocalypse! Stomp iiiiit!”

Please note that while I have tried to be as absolutely thorough as possible, I'm bound to miss something here that might creep up in the RPG itself. If you plan on doing something that I might not approve of but you're not sure if I'd approve or not, email me and ask me first!
