Intro-With the gothic setting, and amazing performance by the late Brandon Lee, The Crow has attracted a widespread cult following. Since it was released in 1992, the fan base has continued to grow despite two disappointing sequels. These fans should be very pleased with the new 2-disc set that Miramax has released. While the movie has the comic book feel of Batman, the plot and emotions eminent throughout the film, raise it to a much higher level than just a superhero movie.
Story-Eric Draven (Brandon Lee) is a rising rock star who’s life is taken on Halloween night, as he attempts to stop the murder and rape of his wife. One year later, Draven is given life by a Crow. Legend has it, a Crow can bring someone back from the dead to right the wrongs inflicted upon them. Thus begins the wrath Draven will continue to inflict throughout the film. With heightened speed and strength, he climbs the chain of the criminal underworld responsible for his wife’s death. In order to find peace, he must first have revenge.
Brandon Lee give an amazingly emotional performance in this film. From his maniacal laughter and attitude during the times of exacting his revenge, to his deeply emotional feelings for his wife, he shows us just how great of an actor he could have been. This brings me to the sad point of this film. Brandon Lee died during the filming of The Crow. He was hit with a real bullet that came from one of the prop guns.
