The Deities
The God and Goddess
A beautiful force of LOVE fills everything in the universe and beyond. We can not see it, we can only feel it. Its massive, it is miraculous, its beyond our comprehension. The Goddess, The Devine, The Force...It has many names and many faces, but it is all ONE. I see it as a beautiful rose and each petal on this delicate rose, is different but without it, the rose would be incomplete. This is how I see the deities. The are all from one, but there are many. And each petal, or god represents something to us. There is a Goddess of the Hunt, there is a Goddess of Fertility, There is a Goddess of love, of animals, of wisdom. We call upon him or her when we need their help, but in a sense, they are all from the same titanic force of Love.
They are fair, they are in perfect balance. One brings rain, one brings floods, one brings warms, the other droughts. It is the balance of the earth and we can not judge these as good or bad, because it is all from one force. There is no evil Deity, There is no Good deity. They are unchanging and eternal.
"The All is an energy field polarized by two forces, the Goddess and the God, which in their ultimate being are aspects of each other. The God is a polar image of the Goddess. The Goddess and God are the same forces flowing in opposite but not opposed directions. That polarity creates the cycle that underlies the movements of the stars and the changing seasons, the harmony of the natural world and the evolution within out human lives."By Starhawk
The Goddess does not rule the world; she is the world.
Maiden goddess, holy one,
protector of hills and forest,
protector of mothers in labor,
protector of the buds of infancy,
triple goddess, I invoke you:
bless the trees around my home,
the ones that shade me
the ones that screen the wind,
the ones that perfume the air.
May they protect me as you do.
As long as I live and breathe,
maiden goddess
triple one
my protector
As long as I live and breathe.
"Wiccans call upon the deities to help themselves. The Goddess and God can help us change our lives. Because the Deities are the creative forces of the universe, not just symbols, we can call upon them to empower our rites and to bless our magick. That power is in the hands of every practitioner. We have direct links to the Deities. The Deities dwell within us" By Scott Cunningham
Drawing down the Moon:
--INVOCATION:
Invocation is when you want that particular entity to step into your body, and you become them, and you absorb those particular energies. When one draws down the Moon, they are invoking the Goddess into them, and then they are the Goddess.
Drawing Down the Moon is one of the most serious and beautiful rituals in neo-Pagan Witchcraft.
This is an extremely important ritual in many neo-Pagan Witchcraft traditions. During the ritual the high priestess of the coven enters a trance and becomes the Goddess, and not something you should try if you are unexperienced!!!!
Inviting the God and Goddess to join you in a circle is called:
--EVOCATION:
Evocation is when you invite the Goddess or element to circle but to be with you in circle and not within you.
