Members receive training in firefighting, search and rescue, vehicle extrication, emergency medical services and many other aspects of emergency operations.

Junior Firefighters and EMS members also participate in department activies such as Fire Prevention, parades, the Santa Run and other activities. The Juniors also are taken on trips that have included the Brookhaven Fire museum, FDNY Marine 1, Brookhaven National labs and other places of interest.
