George's Piece of the 'NET

Hello, my name is George and this is my first attempt at making my own website...I hope you enjoy.
Ever since I got my first computer I always wondered about how it is able to perform all of it's complex operations, and just this year I decided to use the PC for more than just games. After taking computer classes at school to familiarize myself with Word, Spreadsheet, Powerpoint, and other programs, I decided to take the next step...Web Design.

QUICK BIO
My name is George and I am currently 16 and a half years old. I am not originally from the US, and was born in Romania. When I was about 2 years old, my father left me, my mother, his family and friends behind in search of better things, better thing for all of us. He fled from communist Romania, a crime punishable by life sentence in jail or execution, and eventually ended up in Austria. After exactly 1 year, my father recieved the documents needed to be able to go to America. When my father arrived in America he moved into a house where his brothers and their families lived. Eventually he got a job and soon after my mother, brother, and I came to America. Growing up was exciting for me. Growing up in a 2 family house shared by 4 families can be tough, but I always had something to do and someone to play with. Over time my parents learened english as my and my brother did in school, and were able to land better paying jobs. In 1995, our family and the others in the house were all able to afford houses of their own. We all bought houses within the same time period and in the same neighborhood...none of us more than a 5 minute walk from each other. While attending school my grades were not good at all and rarely got above a C+. This all changed when we made our third move to our current location. I have many friends and my last GPA was a 3.791.

HOBBIES
After a hard session of studying and doing homework, I like to relax for a little bit. Up until 2 years ago, I had a motorcycle, a Yamaha YSR 50, that I woud ride around on. While most of my friends were years away from their driving licenses, I was carving up the back roads on my little motorcycle. The bike eventually got too small for me, but I will get another one in the future. Until then, I watch my favorite motorsport on tv, MotoGP motorcycle racing. My favorite team is Yamaha with it's star rider Valentino Rossi aboard the M1.

Besides motorcycle racing, I also enjoy playing and following soccer. I have been on the soccer team at school for 3 years in a row...next season bringing the count up to 4. My favorie position is outside left midfielder and i'm always in the action. My favorite english team is Chelsea while my favorite international team is the Romanian international team...of course.
After soccer season's over, I step off the field and onto the court to shoot some hoops. While not favorite sport in the world, basketball keeps me in shape between soccer seasons...and it's fun in it's own way. I try to follow baskeball on TV to see how my favorite team, the Sacramento Kings, are doing. They have always come close to winning the championship for the past few years now, but never made it all the way. Hopefully this is the year.

Aside from research and novice web design, I also enjoy playing computer games. Many people claim that games are a waste of time and can make you less intelligent, but I tend to think otherwise. Games like Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne is a real time strategy game in which you have to build an economy and build up an army to battle the forces of evil. Sounds simple, right? Not so, as you will have to keep track of the amount of money you generate, the population of your empire, and the tactics you will use to gain victory in battle. Combine this with the hundreds of spell combinations and unit types in the game and you will have your hands full and your brain running full speed to process everything. Other games, such as first person shooters still demand a quick mind, as well as a quick hand and have been said to increase hand eye coordination.

The picture above is a typical shot of a base under siege.

Another favorite of mine...Counter Strike.
