The First Cookie: Building
the Tunnel Beforehand, fold the cardboard into whatever shape you want
it. For this project, I chose to use a pentagon shape. Don’t worry too much
about folding it, just crease it to show yourself where each wall ends,
because it will unfold later. |
|
|
Cookie 1: ¼ For this step, you must use fairly large scissors and puncture
through the cardboard where you want to cut out where the bombs supposedly
hit the tunnel. For this, go behind the cardboard with the scissors and
skewer them a tiny bit until they go through, and then cut around the
puncture. You may repeat this step a few times if wished. I cut three of
these holes out. |
|
|
Cookie 1: ½ Now you can take some cardboard offcuts and cut them to
desired shape for the bitz: patches, bolts, bullet holes, etc. You can also
stab it a few times with a pen for a bullet-hole effect, although my army
doesn’t use many bulleted guns so I did not use that. After you cut out the offcuts, glue them
randomly on the tunnel. For this, you can use any glue, however I recommend
Tacky Glue. |
|
|
Cookie 1: ¾ Time to lay down the meth-er, I mean, mesh! Most people prefer
chicken wire although I decided that my Dark Eldar would probably use
whatever for an under armour, so it could be thicker than mesh. So, I cut out
paper, a bit thicker. For the paper, you must cut it into strips first. After
you have enough strips to cover one of the holes horizontally, put glue on
both ends and glue them down. Repeat with vertical strips and other holes
too. Any holes on the roof you could cover that with solid paper, like sheet
metal. |
|
Is this for the most part how yours looks? Unless you are
doing a different style, then good. You are now halfway done! |

The Second Cookie:
Painting the Tunnel OMG. I just put that Bestial Brown paint in my water. Dammit! Whatever, its non-toxic, how could it hurt me?
Anyways, In this step you may need a detail brush; however you can probably
use any brush, especially depending on how large your bitz were. Anyways, now
you should paint all the paper mesh Mithril Silver, any buttons Red Gore, the
rectangle patches Bestial Brown, and any roof sheet metal shadow grey. Let
these all dry and then touch it up any. And remember to paint it also on the
inside of the tunnel, too! |
|
|
Cookie 2: ¼ Here we lay down the basecoat. I chose the colour Liche Purple
for this tunnel, for my Dark Eldar love purple. I may make another tunnel,
using Fiery Orange paint, but that is in the future. Anyways, just paint the
whole rest of the tunnel body Liche Purple, being careful to not touch the
bitz with any of the paint. When you are finished painting the inside and
outside Liche Purple, proceed to the next step. |
|
|
Cookie 2: ½ Now, here’s the funnest part! And the messiest, so be careful.
You now get to flick blood, sounds fun, huh? You have to do this carefully
though, so as not to bloody yer walls and such. I won’t describe it in full
detail here, so if you need help, go to, Flicking,
in the Techniques section. But what you do is put your index finger and thumb
together, like the O.K. sign or flipping someone off in Portugese, and then
flick away at a brush dipped heavily in Red Gore paint. I forgot to cover it
up and my walls sorta turned reddish, but that’s
ok. And I flicked some red into my milk on top of the bestial brown. |
|
|
Cookie 2: ¾ For this step you get to use yer imagination. You do have one,
right? Ok, so onto graffiti. For this you can paint any phrase that you like
and think appropriate for yer army or symbols, see Symbols in the Decorations section for some WH40k-style Swastikas
& stuff. They’re really messed up but the races are too so, whatever. And
remember, you do this on the BACK! On my tunnel I just wrote the letters with
different colours for each phrase and in different ways and then highlight
the outside with another contrasting colour. I also put on a close to Liche
Purple colour in places as like some official trying to cover up naughty
words or something. |
I shall finish next week w/Basing it!
