About a week ago I found about about Real Software's free giveaway of a licence for Real Basic so I downloaded and tried it out.
It is pretty sweet, I first saw ads for Real Basic back when I was a Mac user but soon thereafter I stopped buying Apple equipment so Real Basic faded from my memory. I'm very happy that they decided to try to woo VB users away, because I wouldn't have tried their product otherwise. It is really nice. There are more type based protections in place so that you don't inadvertantly attempt to divide a number by a character. True enough, properly coded VB won't allow that either, but there are more built in protections with Real Basic.
When 2005 is released, I may just purchase an upgrade.
