Israel is a bad friend
I've been trying to put into words how I feel about the situation with the "War on Terror".

Time and time again, middle eastern Arabs and Muslims say that the US's unconditional support of Israel is the number one reason why they don't like us.

I'm not going to assign blame for their conflict (arab/israeli), both sides have done some pretty awful things. What I will do is compare Israel to an old college buddy who gets into a barfight every time you go out with him.

It may or may not be his fault, but how many times do you have to get a busted lip or sore knuckles before you realize that this isn't someone that you want to go out with?

I say "no more". We should end all financial and military aid to Israel. We should maintain neutral diplomatic relations with them, but they shouldn't get the special protection that we provide them.

Want to make America safer? Let our friend learn to get along with his neighbors on his own.

To continue your parable of the college buddy. . . it would be as if several years ago, your college buddy was walking down his own neighborhood block and a large group of thugs started following him.

They harass him, and they start talking together about how they are going to pair off and beat the living shinola out of him. He stops, and warns them not to proceed, trying many ways to avoid a fight. After seeing one of the thugs pull out a tire-iron and walk towards him - your buddy lets loose with a barrage of skilled fighting moves that would make Jean-Claude Van Damme envious. In the end, he has soundly pummelled each and every thug into submission. He takes and keeps their weaponry, their fighting sticks, numchucks, throwing stars, despite their please to give the equipment back.

Now these thugs want their property back - property they were going to use against your buddy. The majority of the neighbor kids on the block all say your buddy should give back the fighting tools because, well, it was "wrong" of your buddy to take it from the thugs.

You, on the other hand, suspect they will just use the equipment to try and jump your buddy again.

Now what do you do?

So - you just want peace at ANY cost huh?

You espouse placating those who are derranged enough to hate you merely for your skin color or your religious and societal beliefs, which is essentially what you are doing when you say you don't support Israel because it makes a bunch of Arab countries pissed, when they themselves brought on the very events that started the whole thing.

I suspect I'm in the same country as you - and I think the relationship is good for my country.

Where's your moral compass? You don't care who's right? I'm sure there were plenty of people in Hitler's regime who thought likewise. "I don't care who's right or wrong, as long as I think it helps my country". You've just admitted you are no different than medieval monsters who fly airplanes into buildings. . .
