Weblopedia went into production in mid-November of 2003. "I thought of the idea after being frustrated trying to think of a design for another website I was making," said the creator of Weblopedia, "and then it became clear that a reference guide was needed." It was then decided that the website would include articles, tutorials, and guides to help web designers and would be completely free. "The most important decision, however, was whether I wanted it to be a nonprofit website or not," he said. It was, indeed, soon decided that the website would be completely ad-free and nonprofit.
