I am Dukaleon Jones, one of the damned souls haunting the Zombie infested streets of Malton.

I was just getting started as a fire man when the shit came down.

For much of the time I've worked my way through the skill tree I was based in the fabulous Cooksley Cinema.

It was a S.T.A.R.S. safe house run by Steyr and Jonny Happening. And it was good.

East Grayside was reduced to ruins in the zed offensive of 2008.

Steyr and Jonny have vanished with the other S.T.A.R.S.

East Grayside was so disrupted that I eventually had to leave it to seek a revive.

As I lay there in the St. Timothy's cemetery dirt the importance of the malls became clear.

We get everything but fuel and Necro Tech there.

They are the primary source of firearms, ammunition, FAKs, and much specialized equipment.

When Zeds take down the mall, the whole surrounding region falls with it.

So I joined the Pole Cats. My skills, strength, and flesh were pledged to defend the Mall.

I defended the Pole Mall for a while. And I spent a lot of time dead.

I took a sabbatical at Miskatonic University.

An evening with the Necronomicon and I knew I had found a new career.

I joined the support staff at Miskatonic.

I spend most of my time in New and Old Arkham supporting the University.

In times of need I support my Rastafarii friends elsewhere.

They're RL friends who prefer Ja to Cthulu. (Can you imagine that?)

Advice

Urban Dead Wikki

Open a new tab or window then navigate to the UD start page. Select the Wikki and keep it going in that tab/window.

Then read the articles on game play, skills and items. Naturally you already have a character.

I use the Wikki every time I leave the safe house. The suburb maps are very useful, as is suburb information.

FAKs

Always carry at least one FAK. Don't use it on anyone else.

That FAK is for you in case you're killed and revived infected.

You just can't carry too many FAks.

Revives

When giving a revive, remember to Scan, Fak, and Stick.

Scan to make sure of your target. Put them on your contact list.

You can purge them later.

If the potential revive is a PK or GK artist, you'll want to pass them by.

If they're a rotter you have tagged them for destruction.

Everyone else needs to be administered a FAK next to clear infections.

And then slip them a syringe.

Deep Range Revives.

In the wake of very heavy zombie attacks, revive points can back up for a long time.

Getting those people revived hastens the recovery of the area.

A proper revive uses about 14 AP. Use the other 36 getting into and out of the disaster area.

Raising these folks one by one can start a chain reaction of recovery.

Revive Points

When a Zed catches your blood eye outdoors, check to see it isn't milling around a revive point

You may need a revive yourself some day, so don't shoot zeds at the revive point!

Unless they're rotters of course. Let them have it.

Reserve AP

Hold 5-10Ap in reserve. These are not to be used for any purpose than fleeing an immediate Zed threat.

0 AP is bad luck. It seems to attract Zeds.

Do

The more you do, the better you get at everything. So get to it.

Just make damned sure you're behind barricades when the APs run low.

the Future

Once you've caught your first dose of Death it gets less frightening.

I defended the Mall like an Imperial Japanese Fireman that has planed his company flag.

Lately i've employed a more fluid strategy.

But some days the bear gets me anyway.

My kit

Melee Weapon

On the remote chance that anyone would ask, I provide this information.

My first hand weapon was the Fire Axe.

It gave a fair initial hit probability and damage.

Eventually I have graduated to the Knife as a melee weapon.

Even once you've gone to firearms, you need a back up weapon.

I still carry the fire axe, mostly out of sentiment.

It is useful against overcading.

Firearms

We all carry anonymous 6 shot revolvers and double barrelled shotguns.

In spite of need there's not a heavy or even fully automatic weapon to be found in the city.

I once packed every pistol and shotgun I could.

Now my payload varies with the individual mission.

Mall defense is more about the FAK and tool box than the gun.

Tech and Tools

I carry 1 standard NT DNA Extractor. I have as many syringes as practical, at least one.

I carry as many standard First Aid Kits as possible.

I carry a GPS Unit and a mobile phone.

I pack a standard tool box. My Fire Axe serves for cade reductions.
