In a very surprising but well-deserved honor, was picked as 2nd-team Associated Press All-State, as a sophomore in 2004-05, ahead of more-touted senior quarterbacks, such as University of Virginia-bound Jamal Sewell of Richmond, VA Hermitage High, completing 97 out of 169 attempts for 2,062 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions for a 12-1 team that reached the state semi-finals, while also rushing for 714 yards and 14 scores: also earned 1st-team All-Peninsula District honors that year. Got substantial playing time as a FR in 2003-04, once Hampton's senior QB was injured. Poised. Good accuracy.
