The University of Mary Washington is a proud member of United States Synchronized Swimming. The synchronized swimming team is the oldest club at UMW. We have been building our team through hard work, dedication, and having fun. Our team is built of those swimmers who are new to the sport as well as those who have been swimming for years.

The Terrapins are looking forward to a great new season. Please come out January 27th as the Terrapins host George Mason University, the College of William and Mary, Penn State University, the University of the Incarnate Word, and Stanford University. It should be an exciting meet!

2006-2007 Year in Review

What were the Terrapins up to last year? In addition to attending the William and Mary figure meet and invitational meet, UMW hosted a home meet in January. We were pleased to welcome back Penn State and William and Mary for this meet, and very glad to have the brand new team from George Mason attend. In February the team traveled to the University of Georgia, where they swept D figures! Collegiate Nationals proved to be a great meet for the Terrapins. Freshman Chelsea Moore swam to a 13th place finish in the solo competition, earning her the honor of finals pre-swimmer. Junior Colleen O'Connor once again graced the awards podium for D figures, this time placing 5th. Sophomores Laura Guthrie and Jessie Waldman also joined Colleen on the podium, placing 9th and 12th respectively.

This year was also exciting because it marked the addition of a new coach, Jill Jensen. This UMW graduate was a crutial part of our success this season, and we are excited that she is making Fredericksburg her permanent home.

2005-2006 Year in Review

This past year was very exciting for the Terrapins. With the cooperation of the weather, we were once again able to host a home meet, which was attended by Penn State and William and Mary. We also travelled to William and Mary for several meets during the course of the season. Unfortunately due to southern girls being afraid of snow, we had to cancel our trip to UPenn, but we hope to make the trip next year.

Nationals were held at Stanford University in California, and the Terrapins had a great time! Not only did Laura Maxfield and Colleen O'Connor place 5th and 7th in D figures respectively, but Laura Guthrie and Jessie Waldman, two brand new swimmers, both made their presence known by placing in the top 15. Next year is sure to be a great year!

The Terrapins placed an impressive 16th at Nationals, and swam their hearts out. Although we will be losing Elena and Jill to graduation, we look forward to a promising year with a lot of great talent coming back for another season.

2004-2005 Year in Review

The 2004-2005 season brought many events to the Terrapins’ calendar. We competed in the William and Mary Invitational, South Zone Regionals (San Antonio, TX), the ECAC Championships (MIT), and 2005 US Collegiate Nationals (Gainesville, FL). The Terrapins also have a Parents’ Weekend demo and a spring show. Our home meet had to be canceled due to the weather.
