Chapter 111
The party continued on until early morning and when the couple finally said their ‘good-nights’, Jesse was exhausted. As they made their way to the waiting limo, she leaned on Richie, her head on his shoulder.
Tucked safely into the limo, Richie hugged her to him placing a kiss on her forehead. “You were absolutely radiant tonight.”
“That’s because my amazing fiancé and friends surprised me! How long have ya’ll been planning this?”
“Since I proposed.”
“Will we get to see David’s show?”
“Yes. Friday night. We’ll have an early dinner, catch the show, and then fly out to California.”
“Why couldn’t we go tonight, other than the party?”
“Broadway shows don’t run on Mondays to give the actors a break.”
“Ummm,” was her only response as she snuggled closer to him.
“Do you want to get a room in the city rather than driving back to Jersey?”
“I’d rather go home,” she yawned.
Richie smiled when she called it home. “Put your head in my lap and go to sleep then,” he insisted pulling her to him.
It didn’t take any convincing. In a matter of seconds, Jesse was asleep. Richie watched her, gently playing with her hair as the car made its way back to Woodbridge.
Arriving at the house, the driver got the door as Richie gathered Jesse in his arms. He carefully got out of the limo being mindful not to hit her head.
“Do you need any more help, Mr. Sambora?”
“If you could get the front door, I’d appreciate it,” answered Richie handing him the keys.
The driver followed Richie to the front door where he opened it for the couple and handed the keys back to Richie.
Alone, Richie dropped the keys on the table in the foyer and headed upstairs to the master bedroom where he set her on the bed. He quickly undressed her and tucked her into bed before going to get changed. Ready for bed, he turned off the lights and climbed into bed. He gathered Jesse in his arms placing a kiss on her neck.
“Thank you for loving me, Jessica,” he whispered.
