Help Placing your Terrier

Before surrending your dog to rescue, try some of these ideas.

Have you contacted the breeder?
This should be the first person that you contact. Any reputable breeder will take back a dog that they bred at any time in the dog's life.

Have you considered obedience training or a private trainer?

Is your dog getting enough exercise?

Many times behavioral problems are due to lack of physical and mental stimulation. Contact your local humane society or your vet for trainers in your area.

You may need to keep your dog in your home until we can find a suitable home for him or her.
Generally our foster homes are full with shelter dogs or dogs in emergency situations.

Before we can place your dog, it will need to be spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, be on yearly heartworm preventative, etc.

We ask for a donation if we assist you in placing your pet.

Depending on the individual dog, it can take a while before a suitable home is found. Please, be patient and remember we are volunteers.

If you are going to try to place the dog yourself,
please make sure to screen the potential home thoroughly to be sure that your dog is not going to end up in the wrong hands.

Spay/neuter your pet before he/she goes into a new home. There are many people out there looking for more dogs to pump out puppies.

Never advertise a pet for free.
Your loving pet can end up in a puppy mill, research laboratory or bait for a dog fighting ring.
