A collection search is generally requested by a patent holder wanting to review all related patents, usually within a particular classification. In this type of search, all related patents are cited in the search report, including divisionals, continuations, continuation-in-part patents, reissues and reexaminations. In contrast, a patentability search generally only cites one of the related sets of patent.
