NWSF
The National Wheelchair Sports Foundation is an 11-year-old non-profit organization (501-C-3) supporting organized teams and athletes living in the mid-Atlantic coast region. Wannie "Ike" Cook is President and Founder.
Sports Available are
Basketball, Track & field, Table Tennis, Weight Lifting, archery, swimming, bowling, white water rafting, billiards, adapted snow skiing, camping and motorized wheelchair events.
Events Attended Annually are
The Rainbow Games (for ages 5-18), The National Veteran Wheelchair Games, The Mid-Atlantic Wheelchair Games, The National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, various trips for adaptive white-water rafting, camping and skiing.
Who Can Participate?
Anyone with a physical disability who uses a wheelchair for mobility including spinal cord injuries and amputees.
Cost varies according to sponsorship and individual needs of participants.
N.W.S.F. tries to cover fees for registration for events,
transportation, lodging, and equipment.
Wheelchair sports teach individuals responsibility,
hard work, independence, self respect, integrity, and good health.
NWSF relies solely on donations and corporate sponsorship.
NWSF is Not a government-funded foundation.
