NOTES AND COMMENTS FROM NNN0GCB

January 1, 2010

As most of you active members know Navy MARS has a new name, Military Auxiliary Radio Service. We are under a new directive and NTP-8D Draft will be rewritten to reflect the changes. Until we get a new NTP-8 we will keep using NTP-8D as our Bible. This came directly from NNN0ASA in an e-mail to me.

We have two "Tango" members that need to take a couple of NECOS slots to become regular members. I also have two more that will start training this month. I am looking forward to getting them on the air as regular members also

AN INVITATION

If you would like such a link, e-mail Jack/NNN0FNO a suitable pic and brief bio as per some of the examples cited. No additional links to other sites will be included. Last names and amateur calls will not be shown for privacy protection.

DOWN LOADS

MARSLOG PROGRAM. This simple WINDOWS program facilitates keeping and saving an orderly log of a net session. It creates a text file identifying the NCS, Traffic Rep, numbers of messages handled, and an alphabetically ordered list of check ins with an indicator of whether or not they copied the traffic broadcast, as well as a free text narrative or scratch pad. The top section of that file will suffice as the NCS's net and frequency usage reports for that session to GCB3. DOWN LOAD MARSLOG.

Another version of MARSLOG is available, particularly for LINUX users, written in PYTHON. DOWN LOAD PYTHON MARSLOG.

MONSUM PROGRAM. This WINDOWS program facilitates collection and reporting of monthly frequency usage, individual member participation hours, and aggregate person participation hours by the state THREE. All necessary input data is provided by the top section of the MARSLOG record if that program is properly used by each net control station, and a copy of his/her .log file for each net sent to the THREE. DOWN LOAD MONSUM.
