Lil' Princess Wings

Here's what we're making:

You need to have some knowledge of PSP to do this tutorial.
What you will need:
  1. PSP7
  2. A Doll
  3. no distractions
  4. time
  5. patience

~Be patient it may take a while to load due to the graphics.~

Step #1
The first thing I always do is get a picture of wings to work from. There will be no tracing. It's all done by looking at it. I'll be using an Amy Brown picture, because they are beautiful. You can use this or one of your own. Open up your base body and press shift D. Close the original. Now go to layers/new raster layer you can name it wings or not.

Step #2
Picking your colors. you can use the same colors as the pic or pick your own. I'm using these colors here:

Step #3
The outline. Now remember it is just an outline and it doesn't have to be exactly like the picture. You are using it as a guide to make your wings. Yes it is on top of the doll but once we are done completely we will move it under the doll. Note we are only doing one side. We will later duplicate and paste as a new layer. I'm using a the Diva base by Emby Quinn.

Step #4
Now we need to get the eraser and clean the edges. Make sure it's set to one pixel. Just do it the way you think it should look. Mine is like this.

Step #5
Shading the edges. You can use the picture as a guide to where to do this. Use the same color as you used to outline it and just thicken the edges of the wings in spots. This is a good time to copy the wings only and save as a PSP for use on other dolls. That way you can color them all different ways.

Step #6
Get the next color on your palette and outline around the tips of the wings. Use the picture as guideline. Mine looks like this:

Step #7
Grab your next color and outline around the color you did before, you can go over it and shape it to make it look the way you think looks best. Here's mine:

Step #8
Keep doing that with the rest of your colors until it looks something like mine (or however you like it). It's not that important just be creative. After this wee do the little end part of the wing.

Step #9
With each blue one by one draw some miscellaneous lines on the end or "tail" I call it. It should look something like this.

Step #10
Now for the fun part. The part that brings it all together! Grab your selection tool (looks like a dotted rectangle) and outline the wing. Now click on the inside of your rectangle. You should see the little ants surrounding the wing only. Linke this:

Step #11
Now just go to selections/modify/contract...contract only one pixel. Here's what you should see:

Here's what the wings should look like now.

Step #12
Go to Effects/Blur/Soften more

Your wing should now look like this..we're almost done :)

Step #13
Now copy the wing and paste AS A NEW LAYER. Then mirror the image and move it like this:

Step #14
Once you've positioned the wings where you like them you should go to you layer palette and turn the base body layers visibility off.

This is what you should see:
Step #15
Now go to Layers/merge/visible, go back to your layer palette and turn the doll back on. send the wings to the bottom. You can move the wings around until you like it and merge layers again. Voiala, you now have a doll with wings!!! Now just dress her up and there you go. Congratualations.
