Shiney Hair

Here is what we are making:
base by Pixel Punks

What you will need:
  1. PSP7
  2. a pretty dollie
  3. Patience
  4. quiet time


~note~ This tutorial is made under the notion that you have some knowledge of your paint program.

  1. decide on what type of hair you want. I chose to do wavy hair today.
    ~~NOTE: I suggest saving in psp after each step!~~
  2. Add a new layer to the doll and choose your 2 colors (yes only 2) one darker than the other.
  3. Now zoom in and draw the wave outline with the the darker color of your choice. Here is what it should look like:

  4. Now you will need to clean up your hair so it looks smooth and pretty by erasing pixels here and there and maybe adding a few. Mine looks like this now:

  5. Now you need to fill the hair with the lighter of the 2 colors. Make sure you have no open spots or you will have a big mess. Here is what it should look like:

  6. Here is where the magic begins. Choose your retouch tool and in the tool options palette chose darken. I have these settings but you don't have to have the same.



    Now follow the darker lines of the hair and in the waves on the inside go over it a few times so it appears thicker and darker. Like this:

  7. Now in the tool options palette choose lighten. Here are my settings again do what you like:



    Go in between the dark strands and go over the outer waves with it a few times so it appears lighter than the rest...like this:

  8. Moving right along here.....choose soften in the tool options...my settings:

    Now soften the dark lines and then the light part. Mine again:

  9. Last thing you need to do is to go once over doing the same thing with the darken and lighten (NOT soften) taking special notice of the highlights and shadows of the hair. Here she is:
