Shading
Here is what we are making:

Base
What you will need:
- PSP7
- base body
- Patience
- quiet time
- your hand (to slap yourself when you see how easy this is).
~note~ This tutorial is made under the notion that you have some knowledge of your paint program.
- First things first pick a base body and prep it so it is in 16 million color and transparent. I am using some cute bases by Pixel Punks. I like to do mine as follows:
- open base
- alt+D
- layers/duplicate
- click on bottom layer and delete
- select bg color with magic wand
- and press delete
- you should now have a dollie with 16 million colors and on a transparent bg.
- Go to Layers/add new raster layer.
- Pick your color (just one) and draw the outline of the shirt and fill it with that color. Then save and name it in .psp file....mine looks like this: (feel free to copy my work for the tutorial only)
- Now if you are adding any patterns or designs this is done now also. Here is mine:
- Now is where the fun part begins. Choose the retouch tool
go to the tool options and choose darken (you don't have to use the same options, experiment until you are satisfied)
- Now just shading in the dark spots like around the chest and where you may see a shadow. Mess with it until you are happy. Here is mine:
- Next choose the lighten in your tool options and go on the shirts and lighten them (more in the center than anywhere else). Mine is below:
- Now moving on to the pants...add a new layer for every item of clothing. It just makes it easier to erase and start over that way. Follow the steps above and that's all. See now wasn't that easy? Now merge layers, save as a transparent .gif and there ya go. Congratulations on an easy shaded dollie.

Thank you Pixel Punks for the use of your fantastic base body.
