Teaching Sixth Grade
Axton and Drewry Mason Middle Schools both have great attributes; I am very
excited to be a part of the consolidating these two schools into one at Laurel
Park Middle School. I hope everyone will have a positive attitude as the two
schools merge.
This year I will be teaching both sixth grade science and history. I am new at
teaching sixth grade history however, this is my fourth year teaching sixth
grade science. While in my classes the students are required to complete
several science and history projects. They appear to enjoy the “hands-on”
approach I use while teaching science.
During both history and science, I have high expectations of my student
because I want them to succeed. So here are a few tips to succeed in my
class,
-
Have a positive atTitude
-
Be prepared for class, and
-
Be willing to work hard.
If these expectations are met then the students will succeed in sixth grade
science and history.
The SOL's are important to all students who are attending Henry County Public
Schools (HCPS). The link to the left will enable parents to view material that
I am required to teach their children in the field of sixth grade science .
This link also allows parent to help monitor their children success while
attending HCPS.
Positive Action is another program implemented in HCPS. I believe a positive
action will help our students to function in this culturally diverse nation. A
positive action is not only needed at school, the parents benefit when students
are reinforced with a positive action at home.
It is my goal to have each child walks away from my class with an understanding
of science.
