I do occasionally make "things" from gourds that aren't vessels or mini gourds...I've made a few pins, and just made my first mask. They needed a cybergallery, so this is where those types of projects will end up!

"Dark Swan"...I found this gourd while walking through a gourd field...and knew instantly why I had been saving, for over a decade, a pair of partridge wings!
"Silk Purses, Sow's Ears", a canteen gourd purse! Lined in green velvet-like material, with the design elements pyroengraved and carved, with a touch of inlay! The hinge is denim.
"True Colors", my first mask! The white is tissue paper to show the cut-outs. The face was colored with oil pastels. The feathers are from a songbird that flew into our window this winter. Using them in this way, to me,honors the spirit of the bird.
