Youth Division Categories
1. Whittled Pieces – Carved
only with a knife from a single piece of wood.
Carving blanks may be cut with a band saw or similar tool. Sanding, scraping or painting is prohibited.
2. Relief – Generally described
as a “picture in wood”. The forms or
figures may be raised or incised into the wood.
3. In The Round – Any whittled
or carved piece not done in relief. May
be sanded, painted, stained
or left natural.
4. Stylized Carving – Any in
the round caved or whittled piece that prominently features the stylized form
of the subject. May be sanded, stained,
painted or left natural.
5. Pyrography – Wood
burning. The burning or incision through
heat, of a pattern which is the principle subject of the piece. A carved piece with burned detail is not
acceptable.
