= The room is large and circular. Steps ring the room, forming a small arena. Heavy arching ribs of stone form the ceiling overhead. Niches in the wll hold four muscular, humanoid figures with metallic skin. Weapons of various kinds are on the walls.
Zaokan says "Besides, I don't think we're going to find anything really interesting here."

= The room is small, and very, very cramped with the four of you down here. In the centre of the room is a table with a dessicated corpse dressed in now-rotted clothes. At the foot of the tomb is a plinth containing a golden armband and a pair of leather boots. The walls are adorned with elaborate carvings depicting scenes from her life (presumably). She seemed fond of hunting and her job looks to have been a judge of some sort.

Kashim holds the staff in one hand, and walks slowly down the shaft, looking for hidden spears. Or a pierced corpse.
= The tomb seems to have been ransacked. Bones are scattered below, and footprints scuff the floor. Halfway down is a slit that once house a scything blade, but that seems to have been jammed with a spike.
Lorimer says "Anything down there?"
Kashim returns. "It has been compleately desicrated, and nothing remains."
Lorimer takes back his staff "A shame."
Zaokan rolls back up his rope and puts it away.
Guardian says ""Yes, most shameful....."
Kashim says "Shall we explore for more shafts? The storeroom is just around the corner."
Makeda nods. "Guardian. Are there any of the servant spirits nearby who have any teaching skill?"
Lorimer says "Of course."
Lorimer goes into the storeroom

= Below, you see another tomb. This one, however, contains two corpses. One is lying in state, the other has been cut in half. Both are skeletal by now. The plinths are empty.
Lorimer says quietly "Then let us sneak up on our new friend." He holds his hand out for the staff and snuffs it's light
Akilla raises an eyebrow. "Isn't everything we do ... Exalted hoodoo?"

Kashim nods, and sneaks towards the Refectory.
Zaokan draws his sword and slowly sneaks over to the refectory.

Zaokan says "Well that'd be good to raise the moral of the men."
Makeda says "Indeed."
Lorimer nods "Thank you." He takes a mask and activates a serving wench

Kashim chokes a bit. "Brother, do we really need so many servents just now? Our needs are simple."

Lorimer nods to the maidservants "If you could go fetch what food is left in the greenhouse for the cook, please?"
Cook starts looking round the kitchen, tutting once in a while at it's state.
= She nods, and leaves.

Lorimer says "There. And of course, we shall volunteer some of the provisions we brought with us."

= The pantry is empty of all food, only several earthenware jars remain. Ditto for the stores. The cold room still is, containing several blocks of ice that don't melt. The frost spills over into the adjacent rooms through an ajar door.

The only was into any of them is a small hole, just big enough to crawl through, which seems to lead into a maze-like construct, plainly a later addition to the room.
Kashim says "Well, Brother, you now have many years in which to learn how. Is it not a worthier goal than fighting for a handful of minor villages?"
Zaokan I honestly don't see much of the difference in importance.
From afar, Makeda shrugs. She didn't expect to find much. "The bed was just made I assume?" she says, looking at it closer.
Maidservants(#6023)
The Maidservants all look, though not identical, very much alike, like three sisters. All are pretty, demure young women with petite builds, black hair (short for #1, long for #2 and shoulder-length for #3) and blue eyes. They wear long, diaphonous, kimonos, with blue sashes and long flowing sleeves. They don't often speak, but their voices are quiet and uncomplaining.
<*> OOCly, Kashim says, "What's that description of, and which floor?"
<*> OOCly, Kashim says, "I thought we were on the ground floor, headed for the Trophy and Music rooms."
<*> OOCly, Elemental2 says, "First floor, desc of the guest bedroom and those of Proles and Pal."
Zaokan taps on the door trying to see how it has been sealed.

Zaokan says "Make sure there's no befanged beasty hiding in some dark corner, just waiting to feast on our supple flesh."
Zaokan lemmings Kashim.

= The trophy room contains the skins of strange beasts. two identical reptilian heads (very big) are mounted on the wall, one with the frame lined in gold, the other in silver. The other ones are two bears, a tiger of some kind, a man and two women. Glass-doored cabinets hold various trinkets. Amulets, cups, a broken sword with a blade of purple iron, a crystal ball holding a black rosebud, and suchlike.

Zaokan goes over to the human trophies and looks at them in disgust, "What sort of people were these?"

To (Lorimer, Elemental2), Makeda pages: Thus, if anything needs returning there quickly, I'll be able to do so. Other than that, just looking at a couple rooms, nothing else. How long to you think it'll take to repair it?
Kashim swallows. "Perhaps not very nice ones. Not a surprise, with their treatment of their dead servents."

From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer continues tinkering with the device "Of course, as soon as I'm done here." He continues in silence for a few minutes, then asks "Have you ever wondered about our Exalted state, Makeda?"
Zaokan says "A nasty behemoth... But why is it here? There weren't any Dawn or Lunars here."
Zaokan says "Or who ever I was before hand."
Zaokan looks on the plagues of the monsters for some sort of inscription.
To (Lorimer, Elemental2), Makeda pages: That's a broad question, Lorimer. If you mean do I wonder why we are what we are, why we are chosen, and that type of thing, I think most of us have at some point.

Zaokan says "Remind me when I get an extravagant home, clearly label things."
Kashim looks around. "I would dearly like to claim some of these wonderous items, but there are more urget issues for now. Shall we move on to the music room?"
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer  twists something, making it squeek "Yes, about where our power comes from. If it's just from our reincarnated souls, transformed by the Unconquered Sun, or if normal people can attain this power."

From afar, to (Lorimer, Elemental2): Makeda shrugs. "Well, it's a question I'm not sure if we can find the answer to, Lorimer. Our power is something we have. Perhaps it's because we manifest the characteristics that ones such as ourselves should have. Perhaps it's predetermined. It's hard to say".

Zaokan looks around the room.
= This room has been stripped. There's a bed platform, two ripped leather footlockers, a cabinet, and an ancient lyre with broken strings.
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer slips a disk drawn from the automata's chest into his robes, then places a second disk in the gap, adjusting the connections to match. He closes the chest and reaches for the head "Yes, it is something we have, by why just us? Why can't normal people do what we can? They have Essence in them. Perhaps, when we return to Nexus, I shall find someone and attempt to teach him."
Akilla examines one of the trophy cases with flutes. (Does it have a door of some kind?)

From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pops the head back on "Right, lets see what this does. If anything."

From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda shrugs. "Perhaps it's possible. I'd never tried it myself". She looks at it. "Allow me to examine it and see if I can figure it out?" she asks.

Akilla hesitantly opens the cabinet and removes a flute, examining it for signs of decay and quality.
<*> OOCly, Kashim says, "You promised you wouldn't go off on your own and doom us all!"
Zaokan says "And if they didn't, where are all of their ill gotten gains?"

To (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pages:  "How queer. The Irinoche disk fit almost perfectly, and functions as a power source."
= The handle, a bear, growls at you.
To (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pages:  "Can you hear me?"
Kashim tsks. "One wishes the Guardian was a better teller of tales." He goes and opens the Gaming room door.
Guardian says ""The old masters removed much of the metal and wooden furnishings for....various projects."
Akilla raises an eyebrow. "I hardly am worth growling at. I just thought I'd play a few notes." She sighs and hurries after Kashim and Zaokan.

Kashim says "Would you know what those projects were, or where they went, Guardian?"
Guardian says ""You have already seen the maze, I believe? And the handles will not threaten you now, I have told them to be quiet. They are very protective of their instruments, though."

From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer seats the automata, opens the automata and removes the Irinoche map. "Makeda? Would you like to go for a walk with me? Look at the stars, perhaps."
Kashim says "Do you remember anything about the Maze, then?"
From afar, to (Lorimer, Elemental2): Makeda nods. "Certainly, Lorimer".
Zaokan says "Okay, that's ominous... I say we eat, rest, then tackle the maze."
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer smiles "Excellent." He offers Makeda his arm.
Guardian says ""It was one of Master Bhelsone's pet projects. He was....concerned with security, later on. But the maze contains nothing of value to you....at least I don't think so."
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda takes the offered arm and nods.
Kashim says "Just allow me to see these two small rooms here, and I think that will finish our tour." He opens the gaming room door. "Thank you, Guardian."
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer heads for the exit, looking pensive. (Tell us when we're outside?)
Zaokan says "ALright..."
Zaokan follows Kashim to explore the rest of the masion.

From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer moves out of sight of the Fortress, then says "There, now I don't think it can hear us. Blasted thing."
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda nods. "Indeed, but being quiet might be a good idea. Does something trouble you, Lorimer?" she says quietly.
Akilla follows Zaokan and Kashim.
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer nods and lowers his voice, then draws two disks from his robes, one slightly large and unmarked, the other the Irinoche map "Remember what I said about something luring us here?"
= The two gaming rooms each contain a low table and ripped, faded tapestries. Each has a fireplace, and one still has some peat nearby. Cabinets contain many board games. Some are familiar, such as Castles, Gateway and Warlord, others are new to you.
Zaokan looks at the condition of the board games.
Kashim says "Interesting, but dull. It grows late, and my hunger grows too. I see no need to linger."
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda looks at the disks. "Yes, it was just a hunch before. Find something more solid?"
Akilla shrugs. "I'm going to brave the music room again. I'll meet you there." Akilla goes.
= The Cook has prepared a surprisingly good meal, bearing in mind the lack of raw material. The soldiers tuck in, a couple giving the maidservants lecherous glances.

From afar, Akilla removes a flute from one of the cabinets and checks to see its quality and whether it is still functional.
Kashim summons the rest of the Circle to eat.

Zaokan packs up the board games, if they're in good condition, expecially the unusual ones, drops them off into the servant's quarters on one of his beds, and heads down to eat.
Kashim goes to check the summoning room for them.
Guardian says ""If you are looking for the Twilight, and Eclipse, they have left to go out for a walk together."
Zaokan says "Guardian, do you think you could notify Makeda and Lorimer that dinner is ready?"
To (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pages:  "Nothing that would be considered incontroversible in a court, but a hint." He holds up the disks "These disks. One the map, the other the power source. I substituted the map as a power source, and lo, the automata worked. A bit to coincidental. Irinoche has been long gone from this area, yet items lure travellers here. Including numerous Exalted in the past, and those Exalted vanished. And do you feel the pulling sensation from the Manse, and did you notice the Orichalcum chains?"
Zaokan says "Oh?"
From afar, Akilla plays a few short tunes and looks for cleaning and maintanance supplies.

From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer nods "If we're allowed to. I do not feel our chances of surviving the three days to be that high. There is something here, something malicious. Perhaps the spirits of the dead, as you heard laughter. Or one of the former owners is not dead. Or the Guardian, or some other demon. I do not know. That is why I must ask a favor."
Zaokan says "I really need to look through those board games tomorrow. Hopefully the odd ones have some instructions in them."

Kashim says "Guardian, does the Arena have the ability to train beginners, or only test the skills of ancient Solars?"
You paged Akilla with 'As you finish playing, the sound dies away, and then you hear clapping. A male voice says "Excellent, Arvika! That would move the gods themselves!"'.
Guardian says ""Of course! The automatons can perform any fighting style you care to name."
From afar, Akilla looks around nervously for the source of the voice.

To (Lorimer, Elemental2), Makeda pages: How could we do that without drawing suspicion? We can't ask them each to come out individualy? Too obvious.
Kashim says "Hmmm, thank you. I may test that claim later."

From afar, to (Lorimer, Elemental2): Makeda nods. "Might be best. But perhaps it would be best for me to do wander? I mean not to imply you incapable, but I can teleport home if I need to and have some of the strongest defenses of the group".

<*> OOCly, Elemental2 says, "Akilla shows up."
Zaokan says "Well, we're going to need our strength tomorrow, we should probably head off to bed early."

<*> OOCly, Elemental2 says, "No, that was the pottery studio."
Kashim says "Very good. Would you care to stop by the Grand Salon on the way with me?"
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer nods "Yes. I agree. And I actually think we should keep quiet. We do not want to call any further suspicion on ourselves. The others might be slower to come, but I should be able to reach you in time, if need be, and they should arrive soon after."
Zaokan says "Of course, although I must refrain from a night cap drink."
Akilla looks like she's witnessed a miracle she doesn't want to believe in. "Good evening, everyone."
Kashim says "Good Eve, Sister. What has befallen you?"
Zaokan says "Akilla, are you alright?"
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda nods. "I'll try and see if I can come up with some sort of way of notifying you if I must flee to Nexus, but that'll be my last option".
To (Lorimer, Elemental2), Makeda pages: Also, they seem to think I'm one of the former owners.
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer smiles "Excellent. Thank you, Makeda. I appreciate the risk you're taking."
Akilla recovers. "Everything's fine. This place just has an odd effect on me, it seems. I can't even play a flute without ... anyway, someone suggested looking at the Grand Salon?"
Zaokan says "You're getting flashbacks, aren't you?"
Kashim says "Indeed. But you had best eat the food the Cook has prepared, or his feelings will be hurt."
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda nods. "So, all 3 of the others, or one at a time?"
Akilla says "Flashbacks? Why would I ... yes, I am hungry."
Akilla sits down to eat.
To (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pages:  "So, you think we should take the risk of warning them? Then all at once would be best, but I feel we should keep quiet."
= The meal is finished, afe=ter a few minutes. The soldiers head upstairs, to bed.
Zaokan says "I don't know either, but I know I get them and you said you had something similar on your way in, didn't you?"
To (Lorimer, Elemental2), Makeda pages: I hate operating in secret. And if the soldiers are staying here as well, we endanger them as well.
Kashim nods. "Mine have been whisps of dream only, scattered thoughts on the night breeze, but Brutha spoke of visions and waking dreamtimes."
To (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer pages:  "It might be a bit late, but let us see if we can warn our fellows. Shall I go and draw them out?"
To (Elemental2, Lorimer), Makeda pages: But, warning them runs the risk of the guardian knowing, or whatever is the problem. Tricky situation. I think it might be best to warn them though.
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer frowns "If we draw them out here, it might become wary. No, I feel we should hold this secret fast."
Akilla says "A voice, actually, but it doesn't feel like a flashback. In the music room, though ... I should sleep. That should smooth my mind over. Yes, I am tired."
Akilla yawns.
From afar to (Makeda, Elemental2): Lorimer checks the sky "And they might have gone to bed."
<*> OOCly, Lorimer says, "Paranoia is part of the Twilight's job description.."
Zaokan says "I have to certainly agree with you there. It's been a long day. Guardian, when our companions come back, please lead them to their rooms and such."
From afar, to (Elemental2, Lorimer): Makeda nods. "Well, let us see who is still awake". She stands and nods, offering her arm. "Shall we return?"
Kashim shifts. "Voices are a different matter. I feel this place hold many memories in it, of the people who once lived here. When one is alone, it speaks of them to you."

= The Grand Salon is the biggest chamber you've seen yet, and looks to have been used as a ballroom. It's over 60 feet wide and 45 feet tall. On the second floor, four balconies overhang. A chandelier provides stable light. There's a circle in the ceiling where light would come in, reflected througha crystal lens to bathe the chamber in sunlight. In the centre of the room is a small table with a spherical depression in it, empty. Two doors lead out the other side. The walls are adorned with scenes of the Unconquered Sun vanquising enemies and conquering Creation. You two, roll Perception + Awareness, Df1.

Lorimer enters, arm in arm with Makeda "Good evening. If I might have your attention, please?"

Makeda nods. "Interesting," she says, looking at it. "Indeed, we should".
Zaokan says "Should we wake Akilla?"
Guardian says ""Are the demons planning to attack again?"
Lorimer says "Yes. We shall meet you outside."
Lorimer says "Not the demons, to my knowledge. We fear our Dragonblooded pursuers."
From afar, Akilla pulls her nightclothes out of her pack and begins to remove her armor. "My good man, I have spent my life sleeping on beds far inferior to these. I will be fine, thank you. Good night, sir."
<*> OOCly, Lorimer hasn't lied once!
Kashim says "Very well, though you wax needlessly cryptix, Brother."
Lorimer says "I'm a Twilight. This is my job. I do it well."
Lorimer heads for the exit.
Zaokan nods heads up to the room and asks Akilla to join the others, brining her up to speed on the way down to the others.
You paged Akilla with 'If you are sure...." He seems reluctant to leave, as if walking away from a traffic accident, but does go.'.
Makeda nods and follows Lorimer out.
Kashim sighs and follows.

Stepping into the room, you step into a small room, seemingly carved from a smooth white stone. An eclectic collection of tables and seats sit around. A large collection of strange artefacts sit around, and carved into the wall are depictions of famous scenes from games past and present.

Lorimer turns to face the others, hood shadowing his face "Now, where to begin.. Do you remember the suspicions I spoke of, in Asua?"

Zaokan runs down the stairs with Akilla behind her.
<*> OOCly, Akilla says, "Might as well, yes."
Kashim says "There were many things to be wary off, which in do you mean this time?"
Zaokan says "Now, what is it you wanted to talk to us about?"
Makeda waits for Lorimer to speak, already having heard this.
Lorimer draws two disks of Orichalcum from his robes. One is slightly smaller than the other. The small one is the map to Irinoche, the larger is blank. "If you recall, I broached the possibility that something was luring us out here. This smaller one is the map to Irinoche. This larger one is a power source for the automata. Interestingly enough, the smaller disk powered the automata as well as the original power source. It should not have."
Lorimer says "Then there is the secret of the missing Exalted, also lured out here. And the chains of orichalcum, which, if we investigate, will likely be able to bind Exalted."
Kashim says "All disturbing things, as are the voices of those departed which speak to those alone. Do you have something you suspect?"
Zaokan says "So what are you suggesting Lorimer? Who tempted us to come out here?"
Lorimer says "I suspect that some force on this island has lured us here. The spirits of the dead, some demon, the guardian, a surviving Solar, I don't know. But we are in grave danger. Which is why I have proposed a ruse to Makeda."
Lorimer says "Tonight, while we pretend to sleep, she shall expose herself to danger in an attempt to lure out whatever force lurks here."
Kashim says "In what way do you prepose to do this?"
Lorimer says "By presenting herself as a tempting target. As you might have noticed, she is quite hard to hurt. If danger threatens, she will be able to survive till we come to the rescue."
Makeda replies, "I have some of the strongest defenses of anyone here, and I can transport myself back to Nexus if I absolutely have to. Lorimer originally wanted to go himself, but I volunteered".
Zaokan says "Alright, so we just pretend to go to sleep while you wait for some ungodly thing to attack you?"
Kashim says "Well, if you are certain, it would indeed be worth an attempt. There are the questions of where the tools of power went to, what is within the maze, and the Guardian's singular unhelpfulness."
Lorimer says "We shall propose to the Guardian that we fear the Dragonblooded. Makeda shall take the first 'watch'."
Akilla is frowning furiously.
Makeda looks at Akilla. "What bothers you?" she asks.
Zaokan says "I don't like this plan one bit, but what real choice do we have? Very well Makeda, I'm ready when you are."
Kashim says "And what are we to do if naught happens to her, and the Guardian expects the rest of us to take our turns?"
Huh?  (Type "help" for help.)
Akilla says "I do not like the idea of setting out one of us as bait for an enemy who has no fear of luring five Anathema. We have no idea what she will face."
Lorimer says "We shall be able to rescue her, if we act swiftly."
Lorimer says "Then we shall take our turns Kashim."
Zaokan says "The only thing I can think of is simply smashing our way through that maze the Guardian convinced us that nothing important was in there."
Lorimer says "As it has not attacked us directly, it must fear the might of five 'anathema'."
Kashim says "So we are all to take our turns as bait, so that this unseen threat may take its pick?"
Lorimer nods "Yes."
Zaokan says "I'll go after Makeda then."
Lorimer says "I shall take the middle watch."
Akilla says "I will take the third watch, then. My defenses are nearly as good as Makeda's, and my offensive capabilities have frightened small armies."
Kashim says "You plan shows weakness, Brother. Yet I have no better one. What do you say, then, to postponing this plan a night, and seeing what more we can learn tomorrow?"
Lorimer shakes his head "I do not want to give this thing more time. And we are on a time limit. There are real Dragonblooded out there."
Makeda says "We forget one thing. We have to do deal with the bindings."
Zaokan says "No Kashim, I seriously doubt what ever is pulling the strings is going to postpone things for us to come up with a better plan. It'll hit fast while we are still naive and won't know what happened."
Kashim says "But they have no map, and must face the demons. Further, the ship will not return for two days, no matter what happens."
Zaokan says "No Kashim, we do this tonight."
Lorimer nods "Yes, the bindings. There is no reason to wait, Kashim, and ever reason to act with speed."
Kashim says "Since you all feel so strongly, it appears I will take the last watch. Have we any singal beyond yelling for the others?"
Lorimer says "Screaming, the flare of the anima, the sound of combat.."
Akilla says "I agree with Lorimer. The sooner this threat is dealt with, the better. It learns more of us by the hour while we have little way of discovering even where it is."
Lorimer says "Unless you have an idea?"

Lorimer says "Sounds good to me."
Kashim says "So we gamble all on this one night? A poor wager, I feel. We have two more nights before the ship returns."
Makeda says "Are we worrying about the ship or the possible lure, Kashim?"
Zaokan says "If nothing happens tonight, we storm the maze. Easy enough."
Lorimer says "Then sleep, Kashim. If you wish, we shall do it thusly: Awake for your watch, and the one following."
Kashim says "I am worried nothing will happen, and we will be weaker tomorrow."
Makeda says "I'm a healer. I'm used to being up at all hours of the night. Illness doesn't show up during working hours all the time, you know."
Zaokan says "I've spent days hanging back in the trees waiting for the right time to attack an enemy. I'm no stranger to such discomforts."
Akilla says "With such short watches, I hardly think that will be a problem. For my own part, I am a soldier. A little lost sleep is a fact of campaign life."
Kashim says "Two fifths of the night, that is an acceptable sacrifice, though I still have misgivings. Very well, I will awake in the early morning, listen well, and watch till dawn."
Lorimer nods "Then let us return to the Fortress and spread our deceptions."
Lorimer begins walking back to the IF.
Zaokan says "Good luck everybody."
Akilla follows.
= As you come in, the Guardian speaks up immediately. "Oh, thank goodness. I was afraid the demons had ambushed you out there."
Kashim says "I too have spent long as sleepless nights, but I know that it is not something to be done the night before an important day."
Zaokan follows.
Lorimer says "Guardian, we fear that our enemies shall be upon us soon. What defenses does this Citadel hold?"
Kashim says "Fear not, good Spirit. We are well and hearty."
Guardian says ""They are triggered from the portrait room. I will have one of the servants show you how to use them, but that can wait for tomorrow?"
Lorimer says "Show us tonight, for we shall be keeping a watch."

Makeda nods, looking at the globes.

Kashim nods, and bows to the others. "I will see you when you wake me, Lorimer."
Guardian says ""Would any of you care for a relaxing bath before you retire? It will be the matter of a minute to run one."
Zaokan says "Good night everybody then. Wake me when it's my turn."
Zaokan says "No thanks."
Kashim says "In the morning, after my shift."
Lorimer shakes his head "No thank you Guardian, perhaps tomarrow."
Makeda says "Since I'm keeping the first watch, I won't be requiring one. Thank you for the offer, however."
Guardian says ""Of course."
Zaokan goes do his bed, places the games under it, then sleeps.

"You learnt sorcery faster than any pupil I ever took, Crinis." Said Ozandus. "It is the least I could do." I smiled to myself. No secrets were hidden from my wise eyes. I knew of the letters to his queen that Quen kept copies of under the floorboards, I knew of why Bax had really left his Sidereal consort, and I knew Pal's real motivation. The fool loved her, that was plain to my magical sight. It amused me to think of him pining for the smallest touch, the faintest kind word from Crinis, when her body and soul have already been given to me."'.

My mentor in sorcery and dear friend Ozandus had been inconsolable. I felt bewildered and uncomfortable at my inability to help his pain and my dear Bhelsone offered no advice beyond 'Leave him be, Crinis.'. I could only wait and hope time will help him more than I can."'.

Kashim starts awake, yanking his Chain Shirt on, and grabbing up his sword. "Bar the door after me Duban, and keep a weapon close." Racing out the door, he leaps down the stairs.
Akilla rises quickly and hastily dons her armor, grabs Belomancer, and heads out.

Zaokan jumps up to her feet, and runs down ready for whatever's out there and rushes out, drawing his sword.

Makeda comes down. "What happened to them?" she asks as she starts sprinting for the basement.
Guardian says ""I did not spot them until it was almost too late. They are no longer in the Fortress."
Kashim runs forward, essence crackling around him as he speeds at twice human rates.
Akilla arrives, still buckling her belt. "What is it? Where are they?"
Zaokan says "No wonder this place is in such delapidated state..."
Makeda pauses. "Where are they now, Guardian?"
Lorimer says "They fled, we're checking the basement, but don't get your hopes up!"
Zaokan says "Thieves."
= They are not within my boundaries.
= There's no sign of them in the basement.
Lorimer says "Shall we take a brief look around the island, then?"
Kashim returns. "Guardian, do you know what they sought?"
Makeda says "Did you send them away, Guardian, or did they leave under their own power?"
Zaokan says "They seemed rather interested in that automoton..."
Guardian says ""They only stole a few trinkets before fleeing using some artifact. The automaton chanced upon them. They have taken nothing of value. But it looks like you were right to be concerned. With your permission, I shall place the lion guards in the entrance on high alert."
Lorimer sighs "Please."
Guardian says ""It is done. They will patrol while you sleep."
Lorimer looks to the others "Should we examine the island?"
= The stone lions you saw in the entrance animate and begin to patrol the ground floor.
Zaokan says "Just on the first floor."
Guardian says ""All right."
Kashim goes back to his room, and knocks on the door. "The trouble is past, Duban, you can open the door."
Lorimer says "I think we really should get out there and look about. You never know what we might find.."
Zaokan says "If you think it is nessicary Lorimer. We dont' know where they could be by now from that rod."
Guardian says ""You should sleep now. It will be nigh-impossible to find someone in the darkness, and the terrtain is perilous."
Kashim says "Can it not wait till the morning, Brother? It is late, and I still have a watch to take."
Lorimer sighs and gives up "If you must.
Guardian says ""I would not want you to injure yourself because of my slackness in ensuring your safety."
Lorimer goes back up to the parlor to finish his watch.
= The rest of the night passes without incident.
Makeda heads back to the room she was sleeping in to rest.
Akilla looks a little disappointed. "All dressed up and nowhere to go, it seems. Sorry I missed the excitement."
Zaokan says "Well there was not much excitement to have."

Makeda says "There are ways to travel quickly. Perhaps they know one or two."
Lorimer says "Perhaps they are not of that ship."
Lorimer says "I would still like to take a look around the island."
To (Akilla, Elemental2), Zaokan pages: What are you doing here, if I may so ask?"
Makeda nods. "We should probably learn a bit about the surrounding landscape".
Lorimer says "Yes. See if we can find anything of interest."
From afar to (Zaokan, Elemental2): Akilla looks slightly annoyed at being found. "I am quite well. You should go eat something. There is something I must do here alone."
Kashim says "Sadly, it seems so. Guardian, it seems that bath must wait. My brother is intent, and it seems undisuadeable."
To (Akilla, Elemental2), Zaokan pages: Looks at Akilla a tad surprised, nods, "Alright, come down when you're ready." Then heads back to the kitchen.

Lorimer says, once outside "Last night was a bit odd. Who would've guessed my lies would turn out to be true?"
Kashim says "Most true. As if something decided to make them happen."
= There's a rattling sound, and you hear a snatch of sound as you leave. It sounds like a passage from the Immaculate Texts, being read in a loud voice. Then it fades out.
Lorimer says "Definately.."
Lorimer says "So, manufactured by whatever lurks in the IF?"
Zaokan says "Yes, something very odd is going on here..."
Makeda glances back towards the sound, raising an eyebrown. "You all hear that?"
Lorimer nods "Akilla."
Makeda nods.

Makeda nods. "So, how do we want to go about this?" She puts on her riding boots, commits personal essence, and summons up the horse, appearing atop it.
Zaokan says "I really think we should storm that maze. The Guardian is definately hiding something in there..."
Kashim says "I see no need to search the island, the IF is obviously where the imporntance is. I wish to examine the room Lorimer has taken, and then I think the Maze would be a good place to look."
Lorimer says "Actually, I mainly wanted to speak with you privately."
Zaokan says "And we STILL haven't found what is keeping the demons here."

Akilla pages: When there is no response after the first few chapters, Akilla stops and examines the chapel, gazing at each of the statues of the Dragons in turn. At the end, she looks to the image of the Unconquered Sun, shaking with inexplicable fear.
Kashim pages: (That's why he said he wanted to go there.)
Lorimer nods "Yes. Bax's resting place might hold some answers."

Makeda nods and desummons the horse. "I know where it is".
Lorimer says "Oh?"

Kashim says "A place to look, after the Maze, maybe?"
From afar, Akilla looks at Duban. "This place is indeed strange. Could you give me a few minutes longer alone?"
Lorimer says "The Maze might take us longer. I say the grave, first"
Zaokan says "I'd think before, it'd be easier to explore that single room rather than the maze."

Makeda nods. "We'll check that, then the maze".
Kashim says "I wish to visit your room, brother. I think we should explore the Maze, as it is small. And I think we should have our full Circle before we attack the grave of Bax."

Lorimer says "Akilla is having a crisis."
Lorimer says "We should leave her be unless we need her desperately"
Lorimer says "Right. My room, Bax's grave, then the Maze?"
Kashim says "Then all the more reason to investigate these others first."

From afar, Akilla turns back to the image of the Unconquered Sun. "Are you the one who has been speaking to me? Have you chosen me as my companions claim?"
Zaokan says "Yes, and I hope she's done with it when we're ready."
Kashim says "I feel the Maze will be easier than the grave, and therefor better to finish quickly."
Lorimer says "The Maze is most likely to be trapped, more so than the grave. The other graves were.. limited in their defenses."
Kashim pulls out a coin. "Shall we leave it to Fate, then?"
Lorimer says "I do not trust your coins, Brother Night."
Kashim laughs. "One does not cheat in cards, coins, or women."
You paged Akilla with 'You hear a voice in your mind. "Why do you work against me, my child? Why do you dog the steps of my children? Why did I choose you?" A female voice intervenes. "You slew two of my Chosen." Five voices speaking in harmony follow. "She caused the death of our most faithful and beloved servant! Why did you choose her? She will be the death of your other four children!" The voices mesh together into an indistinguishable crescendo, thens hut off.'.
Lorimer says "What do you two think?"
Zaokan says "People, let's just go to Lorimer's room, then the Maze, then the tomb. Only one person can explore the maze at a time and we won't need Akilla for that."
Kashim says "Makeda, your opinion?"
"The order matters little to me," Makeda offers. "I'm not experienced in exploring places like this myself. I just put people back together".
Kashim says "Then the Maze it is. Come, I think I will be done in Quen's room swiftly."
Lorimer shrugs "Then let us go."
Lorimer returns to the IF
From afar, Akilla staggers backward, head flashing back and forth from statue to statue. Her feet slip on the step and she falls backward with a scream, her head striking the floor and sending her into unconsciousness.
Zaokan says "Finally..."
Makeda returns also.
Zaokan follows the others to the mansion and to the room, keeping an eye out for Akilla.
Kashim walks into Quen's room, and getting down on his hands and knees, starts tapping the floorboards.
