Mi Poesia--Poetry by Me!

I HAVE TO
I have to do this
I have to do that
I have to have this
I have to have that
I have to go here
I have to go there
I have to win this
I have to win that
Who told you these things?
No one, but you believe them.

ONE AND ONLY
My new computer has a virus.
Only God is eternal.
His car broke down today.
Only God is forever.
I can’t run like I used to.
Only God is everlasting.
We ran out of our cash.
Only God is everlasting.
They promised they would.
Only God is forever.
Her husband past away.
Only God is eternal.

THE INNOCENT, LITTLE ONE
There they go again
stuffing their faces.
Taking every spot
and filling all the spaces.

I’ve tried before
and it’s always the same.
I fight for my portion
But I stink at this game.

How will I survive
if I never get food?
This life is not fair,
but I will NOT be rude.

HOLY ROUTINES!
It’s 9:10am and we’re here just in time.
The service will begin at a quarter past nine.
We’ll sit in the pews, we’ll stand and repeat,
We’ll read the same prayers, then we’ll relax our feet.
We’ll sing some hymns and won’t understand words,
We’ll listen to the sermon, forget what we’ve heard.
Just like last Sunday, everything’s the same,
Maybe if you try you’ll feel His love from this game.

MY MIND, A RECORDER
Record.
I record what is happening.
Tears. Smiles. Achievements.
Embarrassments. Hardships.
The lens is the eye to the world.
Pause.

Pause again.
I’m back from hiatus now and ready to remember.
The good times. The bad times.
The scary times. The exciting times.
Every time is a first time, no time is the same.
Zoom in.
I can see his expression and the color of her eyes.
Small little things I would have missed otherwise.
The closer I get, more details I see.
But too close and that’s it, my focus escapes me.
Zoom out.
Zoom to the broad view, the one with more action.
So many things happening and all in one moment.
The diversity is great, but a lot to remember.
Reset.
The best view of all, the one in between.
The focus is better and easier to see.
I’ll go on recording until my battery fails me.

ESCAPE THE VALLEY
Here in the Valley you are trapped,
Triple-teamed, boxed-up, fenced-in.
You are imprisoned, you don’t even know it.
The humidity pushes down and you cannot breathe.
But climb those mountains and see the other side!
You have the opportunity, you don’t even know it.
Experience foreign places with foreign people.
Get new glasses and learn from new vision.
Oh, what mountains can do!

THINGS
I am surrounded by things,
Material items that demonstrate class.
Can I have all of those rings?
"No" I should say, “I’ll pass.”

Things catch the eye
And instantly become thoughts.
What is next that I shall buy?
He has nothing so I will halt.

Is there a person under that lace?
Is there a soul sitting on that street?
Brand name things in that case?
Appearances of things make us cheat.

INSIDE
I can write but
I cannot talk.
The time comes,
And then I freeze.
Thinking is not talking.
No one knows me,
Because I am mute.

UNTITLED
Walking down a never-ending tunnel, dark.
Listening to the voice repeating, over and over.
It has never stopped, and it never will.
It nags and nags, pulling one tooth at a time.
Conscience or Reason, which is it?

UNTITLED
Everyday passes by
Seems I’ll never meet an eye.
I search and explore
But always closed is that door.
Then I ask the Higher Power,
"When will come an eye, at what hour?"
