In the early 1950's, my husband
and his family moved into this magnificent, two-story, old farmhouse
located in Tazewell County. The home has recently been remodeled
by his sister. She chose to leave the old wood-burning cook stove
that was originally in the house. The first level consists of a kitchenette, kitchen, dining room, living
room, one bedroom, and a bathroom. The second level consists of
four bedrooms and a bathroom.
A spring located on the property supplies delicious
drinking water and plenty of water for every need. My husband's
mother and father milked cows and sold milk and butter. They kept
the milk cold in the springhouse located near the main house.
Also, in the summer time, watermelons were placed in the springhouse to
cool until time for family reunions.
