2004 Candidates Bio Info

Howard Dean
Dean is a Democrat from Vermont. He is seen as the underdog in the Democratic campaings, however, at the party committee he won over the seniors of the party and got positive media attention. Dean has previously served as a Governor, but also has experience in the House.

Senator John Edwards
Edwards is a southern Democrat believed by the media to be Bush's biggest Democratic competition. Soon after the 2000 elections the media took a liking to Edwards. He currently is a Noth Carolina Senator.

Representative Richard Gephardt
Gephardt is a Missouri Rep. in the House. He has many years experience and has even held the position of minority leader. His success in the election will depend on his wooing abilities in the area of labor workers.

Senator Bob Graham
Graham is seen as a moderate Democrat from Florida. He has held positions such as House, Senate and Governor in Florida as well as a U.S. Senator. His vote against the war in Iraq may cause problems in the 2004 election.

Senator John F. Kerry
Kerry is a liberal Democrat from Massachusettes. He is currently a U.S. Senator but has previously served as lieutenant governor. Kerry is a vietnam veteran who has incredible foreigh affairs knowledge. This may begin to win conservatives over.

Representative Dennis J. Kucinich
Kucinich is a Democrat from Ohio who is seen as a major competitor in the race. He has served in the Ohio State Senate and is now a U.S. Rep. in the House. He is known for his fundraising abilities as well as his want for universal health care. He disagrees with Bush's foreign policy.

Senator Joseph Lieberman
Lieberman is a Democrat from Connecticut. He played a key role in the formation of President Bush's education bill as well as the new Department of Homeland Security. He is well known and funded. Aside from U.S. Senate, he has also been in the Connecticut Senate.

Carol Moseley Braun
Braun is a Democrat from Illinois. She has served in the U.S. Senate as well as the Illinois House. She is an african american woman, right there appealing to two huge demographic groups. She currently holds no political positions but brings other things to the table.

Al Sharpton
Having never held a political position in any arena, this NY Democrat may have his work cut out for him. People associate him with Hillary Clinton and Al Gore. His work in the fight for equality may be useful in this election.

I feel that out of all the above candidates Kerry has the greatest chance of a victory. He is known for his fund raising and we all know money is everything in politics. Also, he is relatively well known. Kerry was in vietnam which will sit well with other veterans and maybe even some conservatives. Another reason he might be the biggest threat to Bush's presidency is that he seems to have a vast knowledge of foreign affairs, an area with which many Americans are concerned because of recent events.
