It's not all work aboard CONFERENCE

A little about Jamie?

It's usually once a season, Jamie will invariably ask, "Why do we own a boat?" or "Why do you need that part?"

And yet, through it all, Jamie has watched us grow from the owners of a 14' ski boat, to our beloved 31' Commander. While he toils at his advertising job, his landscaping business and his position as "Director of Children" at a local church, we manage to keep CONFERENCE going, and continue to improve her looks, her safety and her accommodations.

My better half for 10 years, Jamie continues to indulge me in my quest for the "perfect Commander". Jamie grew up in Beaufort, North Carolina, in and around the water, and continues to enjoy the beauty and serenity living by the water brings. Our home in Portsmouth is shared with our 4 "children" (the 4-legged kind).

A little about Lee

Let's rewind to early Spring 2000. Jamie and I have been the owners of a 27' (1966) Chris Craft Commander for only a few short months, when we discover transmission fluid in the bilge. A short post to the Commander Club mailing list yields me a response from Lee Dahlen, of North Carolina. Lee not only correctly diagnoses the problem, but offers to drive up and fix it.

Not being mechanically inclined, I accept his offer. Lee fixes the problem, as I assist (I'm great at handing tools, finding lost screws and cutting out gaskets!).

Lee was instrumental in the purchase of CONFERENCE, arranging not only the transport, but negotiating the price, too. I paid less for CONFERENCE because of Lee. By the purchase of CONFERENCE, Lee and I had become the best of friends. Our friendship grows stronger, and I've even begun to tackle some issues myself --- I guess that "no fear" characteristic is rubbing off (a little).
