Term180's Super Columbine Massacre RPG Guide

Super Columbine Massacre RPG is a controversial game made using the RPG Maker 2000 software. The game takes it style from the decade that the shooters, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, grew up in.

The sprites resemble a Super Nintendo or Game Boy Advance game, and the '90s music is instantly recognizable even in MIDI format- songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, "Creep" by Radiohead, and "1979" by Smashing Pumpkins are heard in different sections of the game.

While, during battle sequences (whose menu system resembles a typical Final Fantasy game) the SNES-ish sprites overlay actual photographs of Columbine High School, relative to the room that you are currently in.

Weapons for the school portion of the game include a TEC-9, a sawed-off Shotgun, and various explosives that appear under the Items menu that can be obtained by learning how to create them.

To do so, one approaches all of the computers in the school and presses the action button- some will break, others will allow Eric and Dylan to download files from the Anarchist Cookbook, which, when used, generate several different types of explosive devices, that can be used to take down multiple targets in battle. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here. When the game first starts, you'll awake in your bedroom, and can obtain a Marilyn Manson CD and Doom CD-ROM to be equipped as Accessories for Dylan and Eric. After walking around the room, playing around with the stereo (cue: Nirvana) and picking up the nonessential CDs, grab the duffle bags, then the explosives-it's time to call your friend Eric and end the misery that the teachers, jocks, preppy girls, and rich snobs have caused you.

After making the call, Eric will arrive, already in gear with his trenchcoat & sunglasses.

Certain items within the house, you couldn't interact with until contacting Eric- these items can now be used; including a videocamera used to record your last video for the world to see, and a film to inspire the two. When you're ready to embark on your adventure, a cutscene prompts, showing Dylan and Eric in a car headed to their destiny. Upon arrival, take notice of which car in the lot is yours- returning to it is essential to refill your ammo, and to trigger the bombs once they've been placed.

That's what you're going to do now. Grab the duffle bags loaded with explosives from the trunk of the car and head into the school.

From here, hall monitors, teachers, and random students can bump into you; some will even try following you (don't let them catch you!) and security cameras will be lined against the walls, one on either side in a pattern of left-right-left, to avoid them, hug the walls nearest the camera, while being careful to avoid any contact with school faculty or students along the way.

At the end of the hall, a pair of double-doors will lead to the cafeteria. Reaching the cafeteria doesn't necessarily mean you're safe- one wrong move, and you're back outside the school again.

Follow the path left, avoiding the faculty along the way, then follow the path north to the first table, adjacent the drink machine. Plant the first bomb there, and follow the path right, thus avoiding the security camera along the right wall; plant the second bomb at the northeast table- but DON'T GO SOUTH. Instead, take the path you took to get here, all the way back (west, south, then east)

Once you're back in the hallway, follow the path back while cautiously avoiding the cameras, students, teachers, and hall monitors.

Now that you're back out of the school, in the parking lot, you can save your game (only in the parking lot can you save your game so remember to do it whenever you return for ammo)

Walk back to your car, trigger the explosives, and walk along the path to the south. You'll be at a cliff overlooking the city (cue: Radiohead); Eric and Dylan will talk for a bit, then head back the way you came, to the parking lot.

From the parking lot, head to the yellow spot (if you haven't already triggered the explosives, do so at the trunk of your car) Dylan & Eric will stand at the spot and wait for the explosives to trigger.

Anyone who remembers the incident, knows that the explosives in the lunchroom didn't function properly, the bombs didn't go off; the cafeteria is still intact- and now you're pissed.

After the bell rings the parking lot is filled; it's time. Approach any one of the dozens of people walking around to initiate a battle with them, and as Eric Harris said in his Doom WAD entitled "UAC Labs" "KILL EM AAAAALLLL!!!"- aside from being fun, you need the experience for later.

After clearing the parking lot, save, refill your ammunition at your car's trunk, and enter the school- it's payback time.

Kill everyone walking down the hallways (if you were caught a lot of times in the earlier sequences, you're going to really, REALLY enjoy taking them out) Then enter the classrooms; aside from killing everyone, make sure to check all of the computers, to break the ones without internet access, and use the ones that do to download pages from the Anarchist Cookbook. Also, one of the classrooms contains the Nietzche book on the teacher's desk (it's huge but still easy to miss) which you will need if you expect to see the game's true ending, so do not end it when prompted to do so in the Library, if you aren't in possession of this book.

Always check everything- there are several different past-reflection style cutscenes that can be triggered, that are essential to the story, and are an easy way to Level Up.

Once you've cleared them all out, make your way to the Cafeteria, again, be sure to kill every last living thing, then return to the main hallway, until you see & make your way down another hallway to the right.

After you've finished killing everything on this floor, do the same with the 2nd floor.

You'll notice along the way, that there is a lot of attention to detail; such as the "everyone in white hats stand up.." quote, the "Do you believe in God?" sequence (both in the library) and the note that says "1 bleeding to death", found in a hallway. As well as the one person in the Library you purposely let leave the building completely unharmed- another detail taken directly from the actual incident.

And, of course, Bill Clinton even makes an appearance on a TV press conference; the game uses an actual soundbyte taken from the incident. After you've made sure to check everything (all cutscenes raise your Level, and aside from that are essential to the story; one is triggered by viewing a projector in a small room -Frankenstein-, another by looking at a computer in one of the rooms -"I taught her how to use the Internet.."- be sure to look around to find them all) and killed everything, and picked up the Nietzche book from the teacher's desk in one of the classrooms, head to the Library, and the window at the very north to trigger a shootout with police- at the end of this, you'll be asked if you want to end it now, if you say "No" (if you've missed something along the way, such as the Nietzche book) grab what you missed, then return to the bookcase where the question was asked to re-trigger the dialogue.

If you have everything you need, and have killed everyone (though, technically, many were only wounded in the incident) say "Yes", to turn the gun on yourselves and end your lives. A cutscene will trigger, showing the mourning families & friends, with a touch of melancholy music, and a press conference on the events.

But it's not over yet... No, now it's time to finally make use of the Nietzche book, but first, you're going to have to make your way through the depths of Hell itself. The battles get a lot harder from here, but weapons from the Doom game can be found in treasure chests scattered across the maps. For now, it's just you and your pistol... Following the path east and north, you should find your missing friend walking amongst the monsters. Reunite with him, which will make the battles ahead much easier. Continue searching for better weapons, as you'll need them- eventually you'll cross paths with the all-powerful Cyberdemon; he has a BFG9000 in a chest behind him, so fighting him has its rewards; plus, you can also find the Island of Lost Souls, a hilarious collection of pop culture references (everyone from Mega Man to John Lennon can be found there, and talking to them triggers their theme song) though it's much easier to find the island later.

You should run into a mustached fellow who is searching for his book-that's right- if you didn't grab it from the school, you're gonna have to restart the game all the way back from the beginning.

Give him the Nietzche book, and he'll let you use his portal to enter Satan's quarters.

You'll instantly recognize Satan from South Park (yes, they really used the South Park Satan) The battle against Satan isn't very hard, actually.. and afterward, you can use his flying demon to traverse the landscape, providing you access to both parts of the Satanic Bible, and easier access to the Island of Lost Souls (all the way in the southwest corner)

Return to Satan with both parts of the Satanic Bible, and you're all set- it's all over, at least for you; for Eric and Dylan, they're gonna kick it with Satan for an eternity- but it's okay, because as it turns out, Lucifer was just a fallen angel- kinda like you, he's a helluva nice guy. Just don't piss him off.

This concludes my guide for Super Columbine Massacre RPG. I hope it's been of some help if you were playing it, and if you weren't playing it, I hope it helped you to understand what the game is like.
