SV650s modifications

The fairing and clip-on's are now mounted 60mm (2.25 inches) higher than standard.

Basically the bottom mounting hole of the fairing is now mounted to the top lug on the headstock.

Brackets now join the top hole of the fairing, the bottom hole of the fairing/top hole on the headstock and the bottom hole on the headstock.

A local dealer made the new, extended, forks caps. The clip-ons now mount above the top yoke.

The screw hole's on the bottom of the top yoke (which stopped the clip-on's swiveling) have been drilled and tapped through to the top of the yoke.

The biggest problem was the ignition switch. It had to be removed from the top yoke and is now mounted (temporarily, using a 50mm (2 inch) dia U shaped bolt) onto the main fairing bracket. Also the steering lock can no longer be used.

I am thinking about mounting a shorter ignition switch in the original position.

I fitted 2 full length (same length as a naked SV) stainless steel brake lines. This means there is no need for a splitter under the bottom yoke, which also gives more space for the bottom of the fairing.

To hold the rear of the fairing, I used two small metal bracket's, with 2, 6mm (0.25 inch) dia holes, 60mm (2.25inch)apart. One end of the bracket is bolted to the existing mounting point and then the fairing is bolted to the other end of the bracket.
The petrol tank has a 30mm (1.25 inch) spacer under the front mounting. This raises it so it looks matched to the fairing. It also allows air to get into the airbox easier.
