Silks

Silk is known for being a very delicate and precise material, yet it is also the strongest natural fiber known. Silk is an animal fiber and actually a product of the silk caterpillar or more commonly known as silkworm, of which there are two varieties; the wild and the cultivated. The main diet of the wild silkworm is scrub oak and produces a fiber called tussah silk that is brown and has a course, hard texture. While the cultivated silkworm is fed chopped mulberry leaves, the fiber called Bombyx silk or mulberry silk, is much softer, finer and more lustrous.
