Spreadsheet Fun With M & M's
Instructions:
- Each student will be given an individual pack of M & M candies.
- Without eating any candy, the student is to separate the candy by colors.
- On a sheet of paper, record the number of candies of each color that you found in your pack of M & M's.
- You may now eat your candy before proceeding to the computer lab.
- Using the electronic spreadsheet software, create a spreadsheet with the following fields:
- Student Name
- Red
- Blue
- Green
- Yellow
- Brown
- Total M & M's
- Use all of the formatting techniques that you have learned to make your spreadsheet as attractive as possible.
- Enter your data about your pack of M & M's.
- Move about the computer lab entering your data into the spreadsheet of each student in the class.
- When you have all of the data in your spreadsheet, create formulas to compute the total number of candies both across and down in the total column.
- Create a pie chart showing the data for your pack of M & M's.
- Print the spreadsheet and pie chart separately.
Using the Internet, locate the official M & M web site. Explain why every bag of M & M's has a different mix of colors?
