| Course Description | Television Production
personnel set up and operate the electronic equipment used to record and
transmit television programs. They work with television cameras,
microphones, video tape recorders, light and sound effects and other equipment.
Broadcast technicians in small stations perform a variety of duties.
In larger stations and at the networks, technicians are more specialized,
although their duties may change from day to day
Television Production is a two-year program which includes study of the application of electronics as related to the television communications industry. Students learn to produce, direct and script a television commercial or program and are involved in activities that teach set up and operation of television production equipment. There are also learning experiences in studio and control room procedures, producing, writing and directing, lighting and the construction of graphics and sets. Students gain practical experience through the production of several regular programs which air on Cable 6 in Suffolk. |

| Characteristics | Students should have an interest in the field of television broadcasting, be creative and should possess good communication skills and an aptitude for electronics. Ability to work as a cooperative team member is also important. | |
