| Course Description | Personal
computer technicians install computer equipment, do preventive maintenance
and correct problems. They may run diagnostic programs to locate
malfunctions and must have enough understanding about systems software
to determine if a malfunction is in the hardware or the software.
The Personal Computer Technology program consists of a 1-year class that is designed to prepare students to take the A+ Certification examination sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (Comp-TIA). This examination certifies the competency of service technicians in the computer industry and is backed by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, re-sellers and publications. |

| Characteristics | Patience, attention to detail and the ability to approach problems with logical thought are important characteristics for those interested in PC Technology. Keyboarding skill and some basic knowledge about computer operations is also helpful. | |
